Which game had the best ending(s)?
I vote for Overseer hands down, even though the ending was a little sad. I hate games where you play for hours, days, months and then at the end it just says "You won!" and exits to Windows.
The ending of overseer and the scenes with Chelsee at the end made me very glad I'd finished playing the game.
PD gets honorable mention because it has so many endings. They all give you a small sense of closure.
UAKM's stunk IMHO. You blow up the ship and then the hottie goes off with the old man? That's it????? The man in drag playing Delores Lightbody was a little funny but come on, I wanted more than that.
MM's was too brief - come on, I saved TWO planets - give me some more fanfare
.
Mean Streets's was really good - it brought everything full circle, the bad guy got arrested, Tex apologizes to Sylvia for thinking she was guilty, and they *ahem* in the speeder.
Thoughts?

"Under A Killing Moon" is a complete game that is able to stand on its own. It is clean, focused and keeps the action moving in one direction. (About the only part of UAKM that one does not have to do anything to move the game forward is to visit the cabin in the woods.) The sense of humor throughout UAKM feels right.

That's true - and it contained that rotting corpse in the floor bords - the cabin trip was the turning point that introduced the whole Alien theme into the game

Yes. But if one were to try to go through the Tex game with the least number of twists and turns (only after enjoying the game as a whole) one can get to the end without going to the cabin.rockefeller wrote:That's true - and it contained that rotting corpse in the floor bords - the cabin trip was the turning point that introduced the whole Alien theme into the game![]()

(You know you've played the game too many times when you try just going through it without getting involved.)

That cabin in PD creeped me out
I was probably only 10 or 11 when I first played it
I just finished a replay of Overseer and when a 'cabin in the woods' was mentioned I was like "oh no, is it *that* cabin?" but it was a different one for Overseer
(I wouldnt avoid the cabin in PD though)
I think for me both Overseer and PD have go before UAKM for endings. Its been awhile since I played PD so I cant remember everything about the ending though. But I think PD was quite gripping, whilst Overseer was very touching. Maybe PD is better for the atmosphere etc.

I remember seeing the UAKM ending for the first time - I have to say that compared to what I was used to seeing at that time it really blew my socks off - I mean, it's not that impressive now, how how many other games at the time had the main character running down hallways being 'chased' by flames. 'Heftig' is what we called it back home. The ending with the Colonel and Eva Schanzee and Delores Lightbody maybe weren't that fullfilling, but I think they really added character to Tex - I mean, what's more 'Tex-like' than saving the world from complete annihilation and still not getting the girl. I dunno...but I think the mood portrayed in all of UAKM is by far my favorite..

Interesting. Exactly for this reason I would say that Overseer had the best ending.Cubase wrote:what made PDs ending really special was the music.
In my opinion the soundtrack of Overseer is by far the best of all three FMV games.
UAKM and Pandora were (and still are) extremely good games which at that time were exceptional in almost every way - apart from the music.
The soundtrack of these games was not bad, but not very remarkable either - compared to other games at that time - and not so outstanding like all the other features of UAKM and Pandora.
The only tunes which I really remembered after playing both were the catchy chapter tune from UAKM and the introduction song from Pandora (and "Chandler Avenue" - but this was just a Midi-fied version of an already existing song
