What is the world coming to?

This subject might sound a bit more dramatic than it really is - just needed to get your attention :D

These days here in Europe the fever of Eurovision Song Contest is getting higher and higher by the day until May 10th in Helsinki, Finland.

Last year we saw monsters win the contest - and yes - I said monsters! This year it could very well be a drag queen winning the contest - and yes - I said drag queen.

Because this weekend my home country of Denmark selected a drag queen to represent us in Finland. So my question is this:

What is the world coming to? Or perhaps more suitable ... What were you thinking Denmark?!?!???

Anyway - if you wanna see and hear the song, the link to go to is here:

What do you think of this? ;)

Note: The above clip is from the semifinal on February 2nd - there's still no great quality version of the performance in the final. But if you go to http://www.dr.dk/Melodigrandprix/forside.htm you can click on "Gense hele Grand Prix-finalen" in order to watch the entire 2 hour show. The winning song is being performed around the 1 hour and 8-9 minute mark, but the whole show is actually worth a look (if one should have time to watch a music event like this) as there are many great songs in this contest. I'll let that be up to you ;)

Ah Gawd that awful thing! We've had Terry Wogan presenting that for nearly 30 years now. He's great - I don't know about other countries but he says honestly what he thinks of bands or other countries' presenters. That's far more interesting than the songs - especially the UK's attempts. They're just awful!

But it's great for bad entertainment too
PS - it's an awful song!!! But in Eurovision terms that probably means it will do rather well!

(meant in a nice way btw)
I won't watch the clip right now as I'd rather wait and see the chosen performance during Eurovision. It was cool that the 'monsters' won last year, they certainly put on a good show.
What I like about the Eurovision song contest is hearing songs in different languages. So I hope not too many people this year get tempted to sing in English rather than their native language, I understand they might though for votes. I've got a bit of an interest in hearing certain foreign languages being sung, I regularly listen to Japanese music and sometimes Russian, Korean etc.
And yes the quality usually isn't the best of what each country can give, which is a shame.
Also yes Terry Wogan can add a bit mroe entertainment to some of the more boring parts.

Anyway good luck to Finland and good luck to England of course and everyone else :)

The Eurovision Song Contest is an abomination in the eyes of me. May it share the fate of pineapple on pizza and pickles in hamburgers and be forever banished in the limbo of memory.

I have spoken!

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
Well said, Fred! Nothing to add.
AMEN! Eurovision, an oxymoron if ever I heard one!

-Cub. =o)
Damn - I must be the weird guy in this forum then because I don't mind neither Eurovision (I grew up with it - that's why), pineapple on pizza nor pickles in hamburgers although regarding the latter I would prefer ordinary cucumbers instead of pickles ;)

I agree that the Eurovision has gotten out of control and could not believe the song that won last year.
Apparently your song is exactly what we deserve.

I feel partly at fault here as the last time we won a few years back(Israel) it was with a guy turn gal, if you know what I mean...
Of course, the year later when we hosted the Eurovision she/he fell down coming on stage to honor the winners. Man (or woman) that was embarrasing!

Anyway, due to the turn the contest has taken I doubt our song for this year has a chance of being in the top 10.
Remeber, you heard it here first.

I can relate to that..... :)
