FMV game Fate by numbers

Hi,

It has been a while ago. I have been following this board regularly. I jst ran in to this new free FMV game, which I don't know if it was already discussed. It was made on a very low budget and I think it was inspired by tex murphy or maybe blade runner. It is worth checking out.

Haha great find. Hope episode 2 comes out soon.
Yes that would be nice. This shows you don't need a lot of budget to make something like this. Regards,
Let's hope it's better than the Nick Delos Interactive Movies :D
This was posted on the game site in the 'About' section:

Fate by Numbers was made as a graduation project for Communications and Multimedia Design (CMD, Avans) in Breda, the Netherlands. Revival is the name of the fictional company behind the game, set up by four students. The game was made on a shoestring budget (1500, -euro).

Purpose of the games was to make a FMV game to satisfy old school adventure gamers and introduce new players to the genre. But also to see if it is possible to make this kind of game using pro-consumer technology, previously only available for big budget (game) companies.

I haven't tried the game yet, but it looks to me like they have proved their point.
I downloaded this game and it turns out to be an .iso file. Does anyone here know what we're supposed to do with it? When I double-click it, it launches my Nero CD/DVD writer software. I guess this is some kind of a disk image.

I'm guessing that I should write it to a disk. But I probably don't just copy the file to the disk. Are there some special kind of writing options I should look for before burning this on a disk?

As you probably guessed, I've never had to deal with an iso file before.
OK. I burned the iso file as a disk image and it worked great. I couldn't fit it on a CD, so I burned a DVD. The game is rather enjoyable to play. On thing that is very cool is that our main character drives a 1957 Chevy speeder (flying car). Her office looks a great deal like Tex's.

On the down side, the game doesn't seem to have any free roaming 3D. However, the interface is a lot like a FMV version of Mean Streets or Martian Memoranum, which is pretty cool. I haven't gotten very far yet, but I would recommend this game to all of you Tex fans.
Hi,

You have to burn it to a dvd indeed. I finished the game so if you need any help let me know. What if this could be done, using a 3d environment of a shooter?. That would come close to the tex murphy games I guess.

You could have also saved yourself a DVD and just mounted the image with PowerIso or a similar program.

I finished this game last night. It has about four possible endings, but none of them are a whole lot different (unless you're Robert.)

It's pretty cool. Has a nice feel to it. The acting is ok. Not Pandora or Overseer quality, but somewhere between Martial Mem and UAKM. The game play is very much like MM. It even has a wrist computer/communicator.

I was skeptical about a female hard-boiled detective but she kind of grows on you. Kind of cute, too. Come to think of it, Kathleen Turner did it effectively as V.I. Warshoski (or however you spell it.)

Too bad they didn't include an interactive 3D world. I say this because, apparently, they had to create the 3D environments anyway. And it's not that big of a deal to add 3D navigation once you have the 3D world.

Would have made the game much more immersive.
ill give it a try then damm my birtday and im bored thats bad think im gone go waste some money on shoping LOL
Live is too short to waste it make sure its with the one u love !
