What's in the box?

For those of you who are like my and are budding filmmakers or interested in seeing the work of said people, this video is amazing! The talent that people are producing these days is supurb and it goes to show that there is nothing a group of talented and committed people can't do.

From what i can tell it uses the event of Half Life to create the universe, but follows a completely different turn of events... unlike the last video I posted.

That was Really impressive.

And that was just the demo movie!

Yeah it is amazing what people can do nowadays... 20 years ago you needed a huge staff, major funding, and really expensive equipment... Nowadays you can do it with some talent, software and a digital video camera...

Very nice video... It says Demo Movie, does that mean there is a Full Length Feature in the works???
The Paved Straight Road, Won't Always Get You Farther Than The Winding Dirt Road...

That was pretty incredible. I can't believe amateurs, or a single person in any capacity, is a capable of things like that.

Too cool,

No, I think it is more an extended demo reel. Basically he would've combined all his skills into one big short film, instead of having bits and pieces put together. I personally think its a great way of doing it becuase not only does it show off his skills but it is also very entertaining.

That's pretty damn impressive. Thanks for the share.

Goes to prove what I've argued for years. A first person Half Life movie could be quite an experience. The shaky cam will have to be stabilised though, in most instances at least. I understand the ploy to create a mood, but it's not how vision works, and most often than not it ends up detracting from the intended effect.

Yes I so agree... I don't like it when they shoot movies like that... I don't mind first person, but if I'm not in a Vibrating Seat at a Theme Park, then I can do without the shaking of the camera...

I couldn't stand Cloverfield or Quarantine for just that reason... Gave me a headache... I really liked the storyline of Quarantine, the Super strain of Rabies, but the Camera thing was just too much... The acting was better than in Cloverfield, but could have been better...
Cloverfield, I just didn't really get into at all... Not only did I think the people had little acting ability, but you never ended up seeing {with the exception of that one frame}, the creature that was destroying the city... In my opinion I think Cloverfield's story kind of sucked, the acting was mediocre, and the camera shaking thing, I just didn't like it at all...

We as the viewer understand when things are suppose to be in First Person View, so we can do without the Camera effects...

The problem with Cloverfield was that it entirely relied on the camera perspective, and the end result felt like a cheap gimmick, or in more familiar terms, looked like a game designed strictly to showcase a new engine.

Mechanics should be part of a story, or better yet, be the story, in both movies and games. But mechanics should never be the product itself. It's a very serious problem with games right now, and it is for some movies as well.

If I want a Half Life movie entirely in first person, it's only to support the story, the mood and the whole movie, not for some novelty purpose.

Not to mention the fact that Gordon Freeman never speaks, and having the film in a First Person perspective would be a good way around this problem!
