That was a very well done piece of video. There were a few times when I got certain impressions, and I don't know if they were intentional, but here they are. At one point, the space ship reminded me of one of those mixer machines mom used to use for mashed potatoes. At the end when it landed, it reminded me of a toad sitting and staring at the screen. Great stuff!
I'm not fat ... I'm festively plump.
I quite enjoyed that.
Since the whole film is CGI, I'm not sure how one defines special effects, but there were a lot of what I would call special effects. Vapor/smoke trails, re-entry glow and flames, explosions, worm-hole ride...
All those things require a little 'extra' compared to solid objects. So I give it a A for extra effort.

Indeed great stuff give us more LOL keep up the good work the ending u know whats going to happen but still u cant stop LOL
Good stuff...
I think for an animated short it had quite a few very well constructed elements. Such as the camera work, especially when you did the candid look when filming the re-entry; that showed some thought and creativity applied there.
The sound and music worked well, and only a few sound effects sounded obviously low res... but I hardly thing that's a big minus.
The editing was very well done... you managed to cut to the important parts at the right time, and it did not leave me frustrated. You have a good eye for coverage.
And I agree with DrPaul, your effects compositing were really good. Especially the use of the composited sphere for the re-entry burn. Its techniques like that which shows your ability to use the software in interesting ways to create your elements.
The only thing I would say which needed a bit more attention was the texturing... it's a fairly simple process, but very time consuming, which is probably why you left it behind.
Other than that it is a well rounded piece of work, and shows potential in an area where you obviously have a strong future. Keep it up and who knows, some folks on this board might call on your expertise some day.

Thank you everyone for your lovely comments! I found I had a passion for 3D about 3 years ago when I saw saw the animatrix:'last flight of the osiris'...by following tutorials and otherwise I have taught myself since then, and I think this is something I'll possibly pursue...

Ah yes... made by Square Pictures just before they went bust... these were the same guys responsible for making Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within which is an absolute stunner if you have not seen it... In my opinion, one of the most underrated films of all time... and also one of my personal favourites of all time, and the main reason why I want to eventually move into directing photorealistic animated films. Check it out if you have not seen it... best looking CG film in existance in my opinion, and a beautiful film in general.rockefeller wrote:I found I had a passion for 3D about 3 years ago when I saw saw the animatrix:'last flight of the osiris'...
Well done again, and keep up the good work... I think you will make an excellent animator one day.

I actually own this movie too - like it so much it's one of the few films I keep on my PSP harddrive for trips. The 3d in that is fantastic, and is also what geared me toward 3d - but it was 'osiris' which tipped the glass - did you know they used the same models for aki and grey as for the two main characters in 'osiris' - only more detailed and realistic textures?
