I swear to God... Some people are worse than I.
Also, coarse language involved. Nothing too heavy, just the dreaded f-word, once or so.
Still... I laughed at this one. The guy's good, I'll give him that!

edit: Reviewed it to refresh my memory. Okay. So it's more than just once

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
Just so everyone knows I'm working on an Adventure game kit for commercial games. (called ARPAS) I'll be developing it over the next 2 years and release it so I can begin modding it towards Neuromancer | Revision. I've been instructed that this is legal so I shouldn't have any problems there. (though I'm prepared to disband Neuromancer if certain parties disapprove of my profiteering from ARPAS)
I'll let you know how it goes but rest assured a Tex game could be made using ARPAS quite easily.

It means Active Role Playing Adventure System. Its designed for games where you want to combine Role Playing with Adventure games. (Because this hasn't really been done before apart from a few games back in the 1980s) The active element is that the game is 100% real-time and reliant on the player's abilities not the characters.
A combined roleplaying and adventure game...
That's like... ice cream and pizza... but... working well together and becoming the ultimate super-snack...
Wow... Get crackin'!! *FFFFFFWOH-PSSSH!!* (makes whip-sounds)

At least its not like the Dominos Pie Pizza. My god who the hell came up with that Australian abomination.

So, turns out lots of people have had similar ideas, but nothing has come from it yet. I can respect any plans from the Access boys to make a new Tex game, but so far that happening is so uncertain, it's likely to not happen in a big way. That, and it'd be for fun only anyway.
A Myst-like Tex game would be easy to do with AGS if someone has good rendering skills (even with 360-panoramic view using a third-party module). A low-resolution old-school 2D point-and-click game would be even easier. But a Tex game in full 3D? I wasn't even thinking about that.

Well I've heard some things about the engine I'm using to build ARPAS having 3D capabilities. Once it comes out then yeah sure.. we could quite easily make a tex murphy game similar to UAKM, PD and TM:O. We'll see about that though
(don't use AGS because its crap and ARPAS will most likely $#it all over it
I'll hopefully get something running in the next few months to show
)
AGS is probably the most popular and it works. The in-app editors can be hard to use, but it has all the features you need for creating a 2D point-and-click or first-person slide-show adventure game. With scripting, you could also incorporate RPG elements. What ARPAS could improve on is ease of use and 3D capabilities. There are other applications that allow the creation 2.5D games.
But really, all I was thinking about was a relatively simple game.
It'd still be a few years before ARPAS comes along, anyway, right? Plus, it'll be commercial-only, from what I've read.

I don't want to do 2.5D on account that I already tried it. It worked but the system got a bit too complex with pathfinding. There are other applications that allow the creation 2.5D games.
I'd like to have ARPAS done by next year and yes it'll be a commercial product. I am yet to figure out what kind of license it'll have though (meaning if you can use it to make commercial games or just mods) as I'll be including a lot of my own content. It'd still be a few years before ARPAS comes along, anyway, right? I think this system will be pretty easy to use. No scripting at all
Make it like Myst IV! That's the most beautiful game any studio has made, ever!
But scripting doesn't suck!! I'm wondering how you'll do in-game cutscenes or certain other tricks without a scripting system. You can do a lot without scripting in AGS and others, but it's certainly less flexible (and fun, damn it).
