Future of Tex (possibilities)

So because I don't know every single actor that was in Overseer makes me presume and sound crappy??? I do believe I asked who it was, don't recall bad mouthing Adrian in anyway... I don't normally pay attention to the credits of the games or movies... I know the main actors, I know who created it, that's enough for me usually...

And I did do research... I typed in "Adrian's DVD Mind Games" into Google and it didn't come back with any results with all of those words combined in one search...
And because we don't Support an Actor from Overseer means we aren't supporting AC of CJ the creators behind Tex Murphy??? So he Directed 2 of the games... Doesn't make him a Holy Man when it comes to Tex Murphy Support... UAKM did just fine under the direction of CJ, I'm sure he would be more than capable of directing a new Tex Murphy...

If it isn't one of the main actors that most fans are use to, anyone could do a step in Voice Over for a Radio Show like that...

What's with you, you got very bent out of shape, just because I didn't know of him... I'm sure the games would have been just as big of a success without him...

I just get the feeling that he is stalling more than anything else... He hasn't worked on anything but Sports since the turn of the Decade...
This quote is what I take umberage with.
And what is wrong with that post??? It was about AC not Adrian...

And the part about stalling was "My" Opinion... I never said it was a Fact... It is however a sad fact that creators sometimes lose their creativity... Sometimes they get it back, sometimes they don't, but it can either way you look at it can be lost... Not saying he has lost his, I'm saying it is a possibility... True he came up with the Radio show, but I fell, and I am probably ALONE on this, but I feel that he felt more obligation than self want to come up with that...

I love the Tex Series, I have loved them since the beginning and there will always be faith and hope that something a New will come from the ashes... I don't care if it is a continuation of the story or if we do a retro to back before MS and MM... Do a jump all the way back to when Tex worked for the Colonel, maybe a story about how Tex double crosses him and gets thrown out of the agency... Provided it is a New Tex Adventure I will buy it... It doesn't matter to me what it's about, as long as it is basically the same kind of layout for the game play...

Look, fact of the matter is, as soon as Aaron can give us info on the new project, he will. And at that point, it will be our job and our pleasure as Tex Murphy fans, and Aaron Conners fans, to start getting the word out about the new project to anyone and everyone out there. We all sit around and talk about how great it would be for a new Tex Murphy game to be released (or as I've been saying just get the story finished and out there for the fans), however, some people don't really wanna do what's necessary to get it going. I don't know one thing about the gaming industry from a logistics stand point nor do I have the acumen to ever begin to understand it, but I do know that Aaron does, and when he lets us know what the status is, then I will standing front and center waiting for him to tell me what I need to do as a fan to help out. So, why don't we all just stop the bickering over little things and just be a little damn patient with AC and CJ until they can figure out what their next step is from their end. I'm not cranky either, Jen :D

Amped 3 is much more than a sports title. Yes, it is a snowboarding game, but it is rated almost a cult classic due to the hilarious story progression, and cut scenes that not only people want to watch, but replay. He gave it that depth. The characters were a lot of fun, and my son, (not knowing anything about it previously) loved it, and we banter quotes back and forth like Napoleon Dynamite.

And in the vein of keeping this completely civil, I have to say I was most distressed with your comments about Aaron. He had kindly visited us on many occasions, donated unique items from His Tex Memorabilia collection for us, answered our questions, and has always been thankful of our continued support...and here you are saying that is a possibility that he's lost his creativity (stuff??) and that he did radio theatre only to appease us?

I consider those statements disrespectful. He's been nothing but gracious to us.

My $.02.
Worth less than what you paid for them... :)
Jen
The version of Amped I worked on was a dumbed down version of Amped 3, typical of 2k to do that IMO, its still fun but I wouldn't take it a serious (in playing I mean) as what Aaron's version was since his has way way more content.
It is however a sad fact that creators sometimes lose their creativity
That isn't true, creators loose their independence, thats why Aaron had to abandon Tex Murphy after Overseer. I wouldn't go saying he's lost his creativity, he does read these forums and last time I checked he has all 3 games already written up and ready to go into production, Chris and Aaron no doubt would have thought up some game designs too. A lot of games take time, just look at Warren Spector's Junction Point.. It's take 12 years for his idea to even come into production.. why? because the stupid companies like Origin and Eidos wouldn't listen to him. This is what happened to Aaron with microsoft and I just hope that he takes the same path as Spector did when Eidos ignored him.. Start his own company (hopefully Access Software Mk2 :D) and make the game a reality.

Meanwhile Chris is busy with his own company so you won't hear a lot from him with regards to the project unless Aaron somehow manages to drag him away from Utah :D (I think thats where he still is right?)

Honestly Chris and Aaron are my personal heroes because they achieved something that I want to do myself one day, they took a dream of making video games and built a company from the ground up and developed an IP which was really something Aaron cared about and was passionate about. I guarantee you that he still feels that way about his IP - its like a child of his in way and thats how all creators feel when they develop IP.. I suspect at the time of the Access M$ merger that Aaron thought Microsoft would have at least considered developing a new game which he's already established was a big regret of his. And it must of hurt like hell to have his IP in the hands of a company that was just going to let it rot.

This is pretty much why I feel so sorry for Bullfrog and Origin :( EA are assholes.
This is what I'm talking about...the fact that we are all still debating over this stuff 10 years after the last game came out is awesome...how can the higher ups not see that this genre is much needed in the gaming community

I wouldn't argue that the Corporations are mostly at fault, I agree with that completely... I was just stating an opinion... I pray for a Tex Murphy Come back as much as anyone on this board, I wouldn't be hear otherwise...
True, they do lose independence if the interests isn't there from the company to support a project... Can't argue with that either... I would like to see the Company's reasoning for it... I can't imagine that UAKM, Pandora, and Overseer did quite that bad on sales, not to support another game in the series...
I did read the Post where Aaron stated that the estimate for the budget would be around 10 to 12 million dollars and that they were only being offered around 400,000... Kind of ridiculous if you ask me... Surely there could have been some compromises made on this, but he didn't elaborate on that topic... Granted it doesn't seem like, with numbers that far apart, that they would have reached anything workable...

I wasn't saying that I believe he has lost his creativity, it is true that it sometimes happens, you can't say that no creator has never lost his ability, that is why writers go through blocks all the time, sometimes they just don't recover... Could be from a personal tragedy or just stress...

I was just offering up some constructive conversation, but not too many seem nerve endings in this day and age... You touch a nerve and people have breakdowns... I myself am not a Fan of Sports Games, I don't care what kind of storyline you write into it, I don't care WHO is the Writer behind them... I am NOT a Sports fan of any kind... The sports I like, most people don't consider sports when I mention them... I like Shooting Pool, I like Bowling, and I really enjoy playing Cards...

But just because AC or Chris at Co-Writers for a Sports game, I'm not going to buy it... I love a lot of stuff they've done, Aaron's Novels, the Tex series, Stolen Life... But Jen pretty much Crucified me because I didn't buy Amped 3 and I didn't know who Adrian Carr was... No constructiveness there, just came at me throwing flames...

I enjoyed the games, very much so that I'm here 10 Plus years later waiting and wanting more... I don't pretend to know the inside outs of the programming, I don't pretend to know all the behinds the scenes people, nor do I know "Everyone" who played in the games... I've played the 5 Murphy Games, I've listened to the Radio Episodes... I've read the novels... Even if AC lost his creativity, I don't believe he could lose Tex Murphy, the 2 have become separate things... Tex Murphy is no longer a creation, Tex Murphy has become an Entity that flows from within AC and Chris...

Now the problem with that is the fact that you need to add a bunch of stuff to your computer just to play the game anymore, which will make most people think twice before trying Tex, so therefore they never end up playing it, because they don't want to add the extra stuff to their computers, so we fail in the building of the Fan-Base...

Kind of a Grim Outlook I know... But if we are to succeed we need to make others believe that it is worth the extra work...

Don't even get me started on EA...

They used a program called SECUROM in their SIMS 2 series... My wife is an Addict of that game... Well when the Expansion Pack "Bon Voyage" came out they used a newer version of this program that literally screwed up people's computers... They wouldn't admit to it being SECUROM's fault and didn't offer a patch to fix the problem... Their excuse was that it was the customer's Video Cards causing the problems... But a Hack came out that you could acquire if you knew how that took SECUROM off your computer and fixed your problem... Didn't have anything to do with the Video Cards...

So they went on to state they there is nothing wrong with SECUROM and they will continue to use the program in future Software products...

So that right there tells me that they don't give a hoot if your computer dies from their products as long as you spend your money on them...

Don't attempt to demonize me Bafitis. Words like cruicify, flaming, etc. really aren't my style. I've been here long before you....and will be probably be here long after you move onto something else. You can spout off till the cows come home, inserting your $.02 into every thread countless times, but the fact of the matter is that I've no insecurities when it comes to this place, and Tex Murphy in particular. I find it most respectful to do as the "Big 3" wish, to trust in their plans, and help when help is asked for.
And I find it most respectful on the board, to speak out when a member of "the family" is critizied. And speaking of family....there are many folks here who can attest to the kindness, support, and willingness to ACTUALLY HELP, that I have provided throughout the years, instead of pounding rhetoric, and spouting endless 'opinions'.

So....your "opinion" of me matters pretty darn little.
Actually, I'm guessing it's time to use a new feature that came with the software James recently upgraded us to.

Well apparently my "Opinion" matters quite a bit since you can't seem to be the least bit calm or civilized... Your anger and hatred can be felt whole-heartedly through your words... Such passion wouldn't exist if it "Didn't Matter" to you...
In fact if it didn't matter to you, you would have no reason to have replied or commented to a Post that was Addressed to someone else...

So because I didn't join this site when it first started and I was dealing with "Real Life" {sorry to say this, but a roof over My Family's head, Food on their table, and clothes on their backs, comes before some money hungry computer software company} and didn't find this site until recently, makes me less of a Fan then anyone who Joined before Feb. 18th of 2008, is that what you are saying??? Or is the Cut Off date for "TRUE TEX Murphy FANS" May 30th of 2005???

I don't even think you bothered to read my last post, even though you quoted it... Because once again you are Crucifying me, and this time for Nothing... You're screaming and yelling at me for admitting my faults and lack of knowledge on certain subjects... That's real intelligence there... You're screaming at someone telling them what they are wrong about, when not 2 posts before you they just admitted to what you are yelling at them for...

Have you ever had it happen to yourself or a family member or friend??? Well I've cut it down after watching it burn all night and trust me, That isn't even close to "Hate Speech"...

But since you liked it so much to quote it, did you bother to read what was in the Same Paragraph with that sentence, or are you just cutting and pasting whatever suits your yelling needs???

well, to be honest, my last comment wasn't really aimed at you.....as far as jokes...I've got nothing at the moment...all dirty jokes...I don't know if I should really something like that in here....but anyhoo...I'll come up with some comedy gold real soon and you'll all be bowing before me in laughter..MUAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH ahem..anyway..
