I wouldn't argue that the Corporations are mostly at fault, I agree with that completely... I was just stating an opinion... I pray for a Tex Murphy Come back as much as anyone on this board, I wouldn't be hear otherwise...
True, they do lose independence if the interests isn't there from the company to support a project... Can't argue with that either... I would like to see the Company's reasoning for it... I can't imagine that UAKM, Pandora, and Overseer did quite that bad on sales, not to support another game in the series...
I did read the Post where Aaron stated that the estimate for the budget would be around 10 to 12 million dollars and that they were only being offered around 400,000... Kind of ridiculous if you ask me... Surely there could have been some compromises made on this, but he didn't elaborate on that topic... Granted it doesn't seem like, with numbers that far apart, that they would have reached anything workable...
I wasn't saying that I believe he has lost his creativity, it is true that it sometimes happens, you can't say that no creator has never lost his ability, that is why writers go through blocks all the time, sometimes they just don't recover... Could be from a personal tragedy or just stress...
I was just offering up some constructive conversation, but not too many seem nerve endings in this day and age... You touch a nerve and people have breakdowns... Jen is an example of that, she has spouted off over comments of mine on several threads, instead of coming at it with a constructive hand, like you did Cyber...
I myself am not a Fan of Sports Games, I don't care what kind of storyline you write into it, I don't care WHO is the Writer behind them... I am NOT a Sports fan of any kind... The sports I like, most people don't consider sports when I mention them... I like Shooting Pool, I like Bowling, and I really enjoy playing Cards...
But just because AC or Chris at Co-Writers for a Sports game, I'm not going to buy it... I love a lot of stuff they've done, Aaron's Novels, the Tex series, Stolen Life... But Jen pretty much Crucified me because I didn't buy Amped 3 and I didn't know who Adrian Carr was... No constructiveness there, just came at me throwing flames...
I enjoyed the games, very much so that I'm here 10 Plus years later waiting and wanting more... I don't pretend to know the inside outs of the programming, I don't pretend to know all the behinds the scenes people, nor do I know "Everyone" who played in the games... I know several of them, because several of them were pretty well known names...
Also take into consideration, that I just got here, look at my Join Date... I haven't read every post by every person on this message board, I'm not going to pretend I have and I'm not about to do so either... I haven't got the time... I make comments according to the information I have at hand... If something was posted way earlier that contradicts what I've said, simply point it out... I have no problem being corrected... No reason to put a Cross in my front yard and set it on fire though {a.k.a. Flame Me}...
I do ask however that if you are going to correct something I've said that is in error to something else, please at least put a link in your post referring to the correction or quote the correction... Not an unreasonable request, I don't think...
I've played the 5 Murphy Games, I've listened to the Radio Episodes... I've read the novels... Even if AC lost his creativity, I don't believe he could lose Tex Murphy, the 2 have become separate things... Tex Murphy is no longer a creation, Tex Murphy has become an Entity that flows from within AC and Chris...
To address adninsreaction's comment...
adninsreaction wrote:This is what I'm talking about...the fact that we are all still debating over this stuff 10 years after the last game came out is awesome...how can the higher ups not see that this genre is much needed in the gaming community
The Power Wanna Bees {That's what I like to call unwilling CEOs} are aware of the fan-base... The problem is that they feel we are too small of a fan-base to line their pockets in gold... And they don't feel that Tex Murphy will embrace the New Generation to line their pockets in gold either...
So they refuse Aaron's and Chris' Ideas for the game at this time and send them to work on other things, leaving the "Few" fans to wallow in grief over the situation that they care none about...
As the saying goes, "There Is Strength In Numbers"... We need to increase the Tex Murphy Fan-Base... The only way to do that is to spread Tex Murphy into the homes of others...
Now the problem with that is the fact that you need to add a bunch of stuff to your computer just to play the game anymore, which will make most people think twice before trying Tex, so therefore they never end up playing it, because they don't want to add the extra stuff to their computers, so we fail in the building of the Fan-Base...
Kind of a Grim Outlook I know... But if we are to succeed we need to make others believe that it is worth the extra work...
Could start by flooding other gaming sites Message Boards, go in create an account, post about Tex Murphy, no matter how many times it gets deleted, just keep posting until they ban your account and you move on to the next Message Board...
Well I think that is enough from me... I have a Shelving unit to go build for my son... Hoping to have his playroom organized before he wakes up tomorrow...
