Bafitis: That link you sent in blue is really neat. Will keep and check ever so often. Thanks mucho. Still waiting on Nilo and for help in using the archive I did download. I used winzip in the past so winrar is new to me. I take it I just copy the TMO file of the four displayed and move it into the game folder?
Hesitate just to experiment as I am a novice re PC things and want to make sure I do it right. So if anyone can give me a nudge here - much appreciated.

The patch you sent re finding if games will run on your PC was really neat. Will keep to use. Do you by any chance know exactly how to use Winrar and process the archieve to get a saved game. Sometimes I can to it and others times when I try it falls flat. I opened the archieve and see four files. Guess I take the TMO file which is the patch (?) and just insert it into the game?

Could not wait so went ahead and tried to install file I think is the patch. I extracted it to my desktop then when an exe file appeared I tried to install. Got a message that it had failed because the game was not properly installed! Understand this even less then the other message. I have been playing the game for heaven's sake almost to the end and now I get a message the game is improperly installed?! Does not make sense.
Any ideas anyone? Maybe I have done the procedure wrong re trying to use the patch?

It doesn't make much sense to me... Wish I could be more help... I've been out of the computer field for a long time, too long... Nilo is the person to ask about your problem... He must be over whelmed with work right now or he has gone out of town or something... Though when I had a problem back when I first started trying to get the Tex games running, and I didn't hear from him for a couple of days, when I did hear from him, he had a file that he worked on and made especially for me, but also apologized and said work had him swamped...
Just give Nilo a bit of time... I understand how frustrating it is to have computer problems like that...

I will wait Nilo out - can understand when one gets swamped with work. Not an emergency - just mighty frustrating:)

Sorry bout the delay nondaj,
Should have 4 files from the archive
Only one that matters is TMO_Patch-1.04.exe (Self Installing WinRAR file)
You can extract it to and run it from your desktop
Double click it to run
It will copy the the patch to your temp directory
Then it will install the patch to wherever your game folder is

SansGUI: I did as instructed but I get this confusing and frustrating message which makes no sense since I have been playing the game all along with no problems:
Installation failed. Game has been improperly installed or not installed correctly.
Any suggestions where to go from here? All this is very strange since a very long time ago I played this game when it first came out with no problems that I can recall. And have been playing it now with no problems up to this point. Now suddenly there seems to be nothing but difficulties trying to finsih it.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
PS your logo looked so appetizing I went and made myself lamb stew the other day

Download the "Overseer for XP & Vista" archive from the Downloads area of Nilo's Site
http://home.wideopenwest.com/~hbech/
Extract the files from the Archive
Copy the files to your game directory overwriting the existing ones.
Try the game again.

Here is the latest re my out of range problem for anyone else having same/similar situations.
Interesting events in this game. Long story short:
saved 'game' folder and 'player folder' as directed by SansGUI
uninstalled Overseer - cleared PC of all files except saves
reinstalled Overseer in compatibility mode (how could I have forgotten this feature)

reinserted saved files and patch file I have from your archive
ready to play BUT yet again got message did I want to continue in same game Yes/No
Of course checked yes - AND GOT SAME MESSAGE - OUT OF RANGE!
Fit to be tied!
Attempted again and this time I checked No re continuing in game
LO and BEHOLD game fired right up!
Now there was NO scene just black screen in middle but could access inventory on
right side and places to jump to on left side! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Studied situation for awhile and then noticed player name Donna was blacked out; so clicked on name, it turned to gold; went to 'load' feature and VOILA! was back in game right
where I had left off! AND can continue on! Now no problem re moving boxes which I think
the patch must have fixed since I could not get the 'move' icon to appear before.
So situation resolved and will be off and running in Overseer at long last.
Good thing this site exists as playing old games can be problematic re people forgetting same or not having saves any longer. Thanks again to all.

Hey all - finished TexMurphy Overseer finally! Glad I hung in there and for all the help here. Now about to tackle Pandora Directive.

You played Overseer before you played Pandora??? You going backwards through the series??? Or do you just jump back and forth???

No originally when they came out I played them in right series of events but as I replay them I started with Overseer because had less problems running on my XP. Now am into Pandora and am back to problems with the Dos feature.
Tried the compatibility feature in both 95 and 98. They both open up the program but it freezes right at the beginning of the logo. OR if perchance I do get further, I cannot use the cursor as it is so 'sticky' or erratic I cannot manage it. So the next thing is trying Pandora in Dosbox. Have the programs from 0.65, 0.70 and 0.71. And have used them before but it has been so long ago I forget now how to go through the procedure. So have to restudy it and see what to do unless someone here knows quick and easy steps to follow?

Did you get the Patch off of Nilo's Site??? I believe Dosbox is up to 7.2 now... Nilo will have the most updated one, I'm sure...
You don't need to Install anything from the game... On the First CD, just take the Pandora Folder and Copy and Paste it to your C\:> drive, not the Desktop, but make sure that it goes to your C\:> drive...
Nilo has Txt documents with fully detailed instructions on everything to do... Plus he has specially made Config files for Dosbox when it comes to Pandora and UAKM that already have the Patches installed inside of them...
Check Nilo's site out...

Will check Nilo's site and carry on from there. Also should I start a new post since this is a different game now or at least change the title? Imagine I will be back to clarify issues as they present themselves.

The only issue I found and it may just be my computer, but I found that the computer would just up and shut itself down for no reason in the middle of the game... Thank goodness Pandora and UAKM both have the "Do You Wish To Continue The Game In Progress" feature... It's more annoying than anything else...
I would follow the steps on Nilo's site and go from there... If do manage to have problems, search the board to see if anyone else had the same problem, otherwise go ahead and post a new thread for your issue...
Good Luck...
