Fallout 3!
You hated the other Fallouts??? I liked Fallout 2... Is it possible to play Fallout 2 on modern PCs with Dosbox or anything??? I just found my Fallout 2 in an old CD Rack... I also came across StoneKeep... I really liked that game as well...

OK, Mathew. I'll buy "Fallout 3", IF "Bethesda" will make the remakes of "Fallout 1,2" and "Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel". Buy the way, Mat, you have friends who speak Russian. Try Russian pirate RPGs:Cubase wrote:I was never a Fallout fan... until I played Fallout 3 which is one of the best game's I've ever played. Which is saying a lot becuase I usually hate RPGs and I hated the original Fallout games. So are doing yourself a HUGE injustice if you don't at least try Fallout 3.

So I beat Fallout 3, and decided to play through Fallout 1 and 2 again. I install Fallout 1, and the antiquated sound setup has decided it can't detect my sound card. I've tried guessing random numbers and setups, but that doesn't seem to work too well. Always a struggle to dust off these old games...
Hmm...here and now I shall declare the beginning of a new tome! It shall be called, "Why the Personal Computer is a Terrible Gaming Device!" or "Why Consoles Are Better."
Reason #1: Getting old games to work on your always updated PC is like pulling teeth. Console games are not bogged down by outdated setup files.

Yeah that's always been my biggest drawback on PC Gaming, they change so often from one month to another and you could download a Security Update or something and next thing you know a game you really love playing has all these conflicts all of a sudden... So you find yourself looking around online for a Patch or some sort of loophole to get around this conflict and that conflict, and eventually what you end up with is a dusty box in the basement, or closet, or attic, or where ever that you just can't bare to get rid of, hoping just one day you'll either get an older machine to play them on again or someone will figure out a way to get them to play...
Sometimes to beat the hassle, it is just better to stick a CD into a Playstation {or whatever your console of choice may be} and just play hassle free...

Don't upgrade your computer. Just buy a new one. Keep the old one. SHAZAAM!! You now have a sweet setup.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!

"Bad ass?". No, pal. You are wrong. "Akella" don't make a $#it.

The man speaks the truth. I've got an old Win98 machine sitting around for those times I feel like playing the older games hassle free. And the best thing about Win98 is, unlike previous versions, it still runs the old DOS games AND can properly connect to a network and the internet without hassle. Anything earlier is like trying to get a Commodore64 to view YouTube videos!Fred Buer wrote:Don't upgrade your computer. Just buy a new one. Keep the old one. SHAZAAM!! You now have a sweet setup.

It's not that I upgrade, I'm just talking about regular Updates... Sometimes when Windows discovers a problem and they issue and update/patch for it, after you install it, some times things like certain games start having issues with it...Fred Buer wrote:Don't upgrade your computer. I have a couple of older machines, I just haven't made the room in the Den/Computer Room to set them up... I've got one that runs 95, one that runs 98, and I still have one that runs 3.11...Cubase wrote:The man speaks the truth. The hard drives are the only things in them that aren't from their time period... I put a 4GB in the 3.11 and I have an 8GB in the 95 and a 20GB in the 98... The only other thing I've changed in them was the Power Supply...
The wife is demanding a SIMS Machine before I can set up any of my older ones... I keep stalling... lol
She has them all and all the expansion packs and stuff packs and all the spin offs... She even has the ones for the Playstation... SIMS 3 comes out Spring of next year I believe... At least it will make my getting an Anniversary present easier next year...

Consoles might be simpler on the surface but you're unbelievably screwed when your machine goes KIA ten years after they stopped making it (or in the XBox 360 case, 3 months after you bought it).
I love consoles and bought way more than I should have over the years (christmas's) but I live in constant fear of them breaking down. My old NES literally exploded one night (yes yes, in a puff of smoke and everything), and the Sega Master was viciously attacked by spilled grape juice. I'm greatful for emulators now but it's not exactly the same. Whatever would I do without the N64 to play Golden Eye with friends on a big tv with a piece of cardboard splitting it in two?!
As for the actual topic, Fallout 3 made its way to my doorstep yesterday while I was working. I've refused to fire it up so far for the risks are high of me not showing up at work for the next 72 hours

Part-Time Nomad
Hahaha, it's an expensive experience too. Well, that is, I've had to buy a range of "sorry" gifts for the girlfriend after spending a few nights dedicated to the game and not her. And I thought the Enclave we bad-ass!Frank wrote: As for the actual topic, Fallout 3 made its way to my doorstep yesterday while I was working.
