I think some things should just stay the way they are. I dont want to have to worry about the batteries in my books going out.

Now now. That's what people used to say about TV. "I enjoy my radio. It works. I don't want to change." Or what about email. "Hey the post office does a good job. My letters make it there."

Things are always changing. I never thought I'd get a cell phone. "My land line never drops a call." I never thought I'd get cable. "What pay for TV? That's crazy".

I'm personally still waiting for Rosie the Robot to do my housework for me. I'd even settle for a food replicator like they have in Star Trek.

You can't download your book to a flash drive and just give it to a friend???

I'm with you, Gary. Books, real books, are the only way. And, with all the Used Book stores and garage sales you can pick them up fairly cheap. As for new books I get most of mine at Costco; they're cheaper there.

Sam, you haven't really enjoyed a hot soaking bath unless you have a book in the hand and a mojito resting on the toilet seat. Man that's living!

No. When you buy an ebook for a reader it's in a specific format for that reader. I think also for the reader it logs you into an account to make sure it's you to grant access to the book. Yeah it's essentially DRM for books. I expect to see this dissipate over time like with mp3s.

I'll have to take your word for it Jim. I don't like to soak in tubs and get all pruney. I like to read my books curled up on the couch under a warm blanket.

I can't read in the tub, my hands feel all weird being dry while most of the rest of me is wet. But I do have almost all the Uncle John's bathroom reader books. They are perfect for...well, the name says it all.

When I actually soak in the tub, which isn't very often, I'll stick a book-on-tape {well CD} on and just let it read to me...

I bought it for my best friend's wife years ago for her birthday and her Mum said 'It's a bath thingy - maybe Dave wants to see you in the bath'. It's the last time I bought her a present.

There's also readitswapit.co.uk for swapping books when you've finished with them, and other similar ones I think for other countries.

BTW, I usually enjoy a good shower but I use a soaking bath after working in the garden, shoveling snow, or just to relax when the grandkids are not around.
