Yeah that was kind of neat watching him pull it out like a Musketeer Sword...
Maybe Tex is really a Mutant and that is his ability, to store anything in his pockets no matter of size or weight or origin... As long as he can physically left it that is...

It's odd that we are having this discussion. Several months ago I had the idea ti write a short fan-fic relating to the inventory-carry-it-on-your-person conundrum. I imagined Tex toting a bath tub, spools of wire, a large stone, and so on, struggling while trying to run from bad guys with guns. Yet he would need all of those things to get away! Coupled with his drinking and smoking, the very idea would probably kill the poor guy.

It's called the concept of Hammerspace. Look it up!

The Wiki link to "hammerspace":

Thinking about if something similar is defined for time, I looked up "Hammertime." Funny, it sent me to a site of some '90's musical dude with funny pants.

That's one of the things I really liked about Resident Evil... You were only allowed to carry X amount of Items... I'd have to play again to remember the exact amount, I believe it was 8 items... And some items took up 2 Item Spots...
While I understand the reasoning behind it, it would be kind of neat to have some realism... Like Tex could store things in his office, but was only allowed to carry so much at one time...

I always knew it as a "bag of holding"

Btw Baf ... If you want to play a game, where you have a limited amount of space in your inventory, you really should take a look at Still Life 2. The first Still Life was a very enjoyable game and the second installment is also really good.
The inventory in this game is divided in 16 small boxes, I believe. Depending on the object you pick up, you take up either 1 box (small item), 2, 4, 8 og maybe even all 16 boxes of space in your inventory. An example of this is as follows:
A glass took up 1 box in the inventory
A fire extenguisher took up 8 boxes in the inventory
A big mattress (that needed to be moved) took up all 16 boxes in the inventory
In various places in the game there are cabinets where it's possible to store some of the inventory items until you need them again. It's an interesting way of playing I might add.

Hammerspace is the term coined for the space itself. A magical satchel (or Bag of Holding if you will) is merely one form of container or gateway to access it.
The name stems from the old Warner Bros. cartoons where characters would pull comically large hammers from somewhere beyond the camera's focus.
Personally, I love both the name and the concept!

Yeah Resident Evil was like that as well...
You had enough room to carry 2 guns, the ammo for them and a healing item, and maybe one or 2 other items at the most...
The rings a bell, but other than that, I know nothing of Still Life 1 or 2...
Still Life, is that a PC game or Console game???
If PC, how old is it and will it Run on XP or do I need to get a bunch of patched files and load it through Dosbox??? Also, where can I get it, is it on gog.com or steam.com or would I have to buy it off ebay or something???
Sounds quite interesting... Also if someone doesn't mind, could you give me a short rundown of the gameplay and if it's like something I've already played like Tex, or Resident Evil, or something else...
Appreciate it, thanks...

Still Life is a PC game and works perfectly fine with XP without running Dosbox or anything like that.
I'm not sure where you can get it - but I do think I saw it on
www.gamesplanet.com - they have pretty reasonable prices there.
The gameplay is a classic point 'n' click adventure like Syberia, Moment of Silence, Monkey Island, Sam & Max and such. The game is made by Microids and published by The Adventure Company who also published games like Syberia, Broken Sword, Moment of Silence, the Agatha Christie games and more.
The original game of Still Life was made in 2005 and is actually a sequel to Post Mortem which came out in 2003.
Post Mortem took place in the 1920s with lead character Gustav McPherson - a PI who's hired to solve a brutal murder in Paris. Of course things get a lot darker and dangerous the further into the investigation he gets.
Still Life, however, takes place in 2004 Chicaco where you play FBI Special Agent Victoria McPherson, grand daughter of Gustav McPherson. She too is investigating a series of brutal murders - and she discovers that her grandfather investigated a similar case in 1920s Prague. In both cases sex trade workers are targeted - prostitutes in Prague and in Chicago it's employees of a massage parlor / S&M club.
In the game you switch between playing as Victoria solving the crimes in Chicago and as Gustav solving the crimes in Prague. It's a really interesting game and I don't want to spoil anything for you other than say that it's a great game and you should definitely look into it.
The sequel to Still Life - Still Life 2 - has just been released here in 2009. It has been planned to a long time, but some years ago, Microids went bankrupt and proclaimed that they would not be making games anymore, so the sequel was cancelled. Luckily they are now back again and the sequel was made. Still haven't finished that one though, but I'm going to soon enough
If you want more info about the games, you can always visit
http://www.stilllife-game.com/ and check out screenshots, trailer and such.
