The last film you´ve seen and your thoughts about it

I agree, Baf. That was the funniest line in any Star Trek movie ever! The second was the one mentioned by Freep.

My 2 cents? The movie was good, but forced, especially the comedy. Compare it with ST IV which was directed by Nimoy. More smoothly flowing and seemed to gel better. Still, I liked the story line, the prisoner (Not God, but certainly godlike), and the rapport between Kirk, Spock and McCoy. Also, Spock using his Vulcan nerve pinch on a horse was tremendous! The ending with the three of them at the camping site was very enjoyable, too.
"If you look to me for illumination, you better have a flashlight!"
I watched Star Trek V up to the point where what's her face was supposed to distract the guards on (insert Tatooine like planet here). I think I only made it thirty minutes into the movie, but everything was just so bad. Really bad. One of these days I play to see it to the end, so that I can properly proceed to Star Trek 6.

It doesn't have the flowing story like 2, 3, 4, and 5 do, but it does kind of pick up off of 5... I really like how 2, 3, 4, and 5 all flow right from one to the next...

2 they are fighting for their lives and Spock dies... 3 picks up with them still in space heading to space dock wondering about Spock and then McCoy has his Mental problems, in his words "It's Payback For All Those Arguments He Lost"... lol And 4 just keeps running with the rebirth of Spock and the borrowed Klingon ship, and then 5 picks up with them on shore leave while the Yorktown is refitted and renamed as the Enterprise-A...

I just loved how they flowed the story for 4 movies... Very good script writing there... 2, 3, and 4 are pretty much the same story just broken up into 3 movies... You really need to watch all 3 of them together to get the full effect of it...

As for any of them being bad... I disagree... I haven't seen a Star Trek Movie yet that I haven't enjoyed watching... Even the original, even though it is quite slow in developing, I could sit and watch any of them at pretty much any given moment...
Same goes for the 6 Star Wars movies, the Godfather movies, Lord Of The Rings, and V...
Yes I said it, I like the Movie "V"... I hear people go back and forth with this one... You either liked it or you didn't and I liked it... Sure the costumes for the Lizards were a little laughable, but the movie itself I thought was pretty good...

Obsessed...
Very good movie... Sure the Fatal Attraction thing has been done many times over, but it still makes for a good movie... Ali Larter plays a pretty good Psycho... And there is very good cat fight in it too... It's fairly new, so I don't want to say too much to give it away, but if you are an Ali Larter fan or a fan of these types of movies, I highly recommend this...

THEY aren't bad. I loved Star Trek 1-4, and the new one. Just Star Trek V so far.

I still think First Contact was the best one as far as action goes, along with the new one.

Recently saw Hotel Rwanda. The fact that the events in this movie actually happened is absolutely appalling.

What is wrong with the human race?

Good movie and conveyed the emotion really well. Had small bits of humor here and there to ease the tension.

Recommended to anyone, except small children.

I'd have to say Star Trek 3 was one of my favorites, along with 6... I like 3 because of the Espionage involved at the beginning and then there is the fight with the Klingons {space and hand to hand}... Then there is the emotion of them killing Kirk's Son... Then there is the humor of Spock being in McCoy's head...

I don't really see where there was all that much Action in First Contact??? There was the little skirmish with the Borg at the beginning... Then you get to watch Troi get Drunk which was Hilarious... Then they spend time trying to convince the Dr. to help them rebuild his ship which he pretty much has lost all interest in... I mean yeah there were a few battles with the Borg on the ship, but I just don't see where all the action was, they were short lived scenes, because the Borg move slower than hell... The Space walk was kind of kewl, would have been better if there had been more to it... To me though First Contact had a lot of Dialog and Story Telling...

I tell you a Star Trek movie I would have loved to have seen, would have been Voyager... The Series Finale was great, but if they had left the Series hanging and did those last 2 Episodes as a movie with a few other things involved that would have been a great Star Trek movie...

I saw first contact in the theater and haven't seen it since, so it is quite a bit foggy.

I just remember I really liked it. Now that you mention it, maybe it was the story telling I liked so much.
Matt
I like story telling as well... I'd much rather sit through a semi-boring movie and know why things are happening than to sit through a nothing but Action movie and be asking "Why did he just do that?" "Where are they going. what for?" "Who is this girl that just showed up?"...
Know what I'm saying...

I was down in Cabo san Lucas last week and just got back Friday night.

I went to see Julie & Julia today. It was very enjoyable. Meryl Streep did a spot-on Julia Child. Amy Adams is just so lovable, no matter what she's doing and Stanley Tucci is alway great at being Stanley Tucci.

The movie was very up-beat, happy and wholesome with just a few short semi-dark scenes and lots of good food.
Just watched Taken, that movie is Bad Ass... I loved it... I can't really say anything else about it, it was simply a great movie... The previews before it came out didn't do it justice... I should have seen that movie on the Big Screen...

I just saw the movie Johnny Got His Gun.

Wow.

In Case no one knows what this movie is... it is an Indy film from 1971.
It was made famous by the music video for One by Metallica.

This movie is incredibly disturbing. Just the thought of being in Joe's shoes is chilling.

If anyone you know thinks war is an honourable and glorious thing... make them watch this movie.

This story will turn anyone off to war who sees it.

Just watched District 9. Awesome.

The plot involving the protagonist Vick was unexpected, cool, bizarre and well played out, even if his wife was a tool for a couple scenes. Very violent. Leave your kids at home.

Why does no one post in this board anymore?

We get the occasional post but I really thought district 9 would have started some discussion.

Anyway, first movie I saw this weekend was the short, The Hunt For Gollum.
Pretty impressive for a fan made film.

I was surprised at how good the effects were for a film that pretty much had no budget, literally.

Second, A Beautiful Mind

This movie definitely did make a huge twist half way through that I wasn't expecting.
It seriously makes me wonder if schizophrenia is actually like this.
This movie deserved the Oscars it received.

District 9 deserves its own post...

heck... i am going to start its own thread.
