Colin Mcrae is rumored to be the pilot of the helicopter that crashed last night in Lanark, Scotland. McRae is a known helicopter pilot, and his agent says he and his 5 year old son Johnny were killed in the crash, in which the police confirm there were no survivors.

Formal identification of the dead is not expected for some time.

Colin Mcrae is of course one of the most well-known rallydrivers of all time, having won the WRC countless times and having his own brand of computer racing games, the Colin Mcrae Rally series.

If this is true, another legend who burned brightly for his passion has been snuffed out.

WHAT!? That's terrible news. We don't get a lot of news about the WRC here in Canada but I would have thought that that would come up somewhere. It's even worse that his son was in the crash. It's a sad day indeed.

Very sad indeed. He did much for the sport of Rally. I do however feel a need to point out that he only won the actual World Rally Championship once, in 1995. To me that makes him even more fascinating.

Famous people really need to stop flying planes and helicopters. Seriously, they may have the money, but it doesnt mean they all have the skill.

In the dead man's defense, he was an avid pilot and had plenty of experience and skill.

I mean, if he didn't, it would be foolish of him to bring both his 5 year old son, and a friend and his toddler as well.

But yeah... Famous and talented people should stop dropping dead before their time :D
