XP compatible Adventure Games & Interactive Movies-list
I was browsing through Amazon the other day and stumbled accross some really good Adventure Games and Interactive Movies I was yet to play. I've noticed that there are a few copies of Black Dahlia still available on Amazon (apparently still in good condition) but i'm unsure if I want to purchase it since so many games refuse to run on current generation operating systems.
So I thought for the benefit of others in this situation, lets make a list of games that from experience, we know work on XP so we can put our doubts and anxieties to rest when spending good money on older games that may not work.
So, my first question is, Black Dahlia, will it run?
Here's a list of Lucasarts games that work on XP:
- Star Wars: Jedi Knight (dark forces 2) - Lucasarts Classics re-issue series
- Full Throttle - Lucasarts Classics re-issue series
- Grim Fandango - Lucasarts Classics re-issue series (not sure about original pressings)
- Sam and Max hit the road: Lucasarts Classics re-issue series
- The Dig: Lucasarts classics re-isue series.
Other games:
- Deus Ex
- All Broken Sword games

I have Black Dahlia running fine under my windows XP laptop with 2.6 GHz, 768MB RAM. You will definitely want to download the patch. Should still be available online; if not, I have it and could email it to you.
According to my compatibility settings, I don't believe it is necessary to run it under any other settings.
Game play runs fine, the mouse is just a bit fast so you have to make somewhat small movements.

The only one I played from Joel's list is The Dig. Thought it was pretty good. I've said this before so I may as well say it again, I thoroughly enjoyed both Syberia games. I know there are several here who did NOT like them, but I did and wish they would come out with a 3rd game.
"If you look to me for illumination, you better have a flashlight!"
I also thoroughly enjoyed Syberia and The Longest Journey.
I have yet to play both of their sequels but i very much want to and recommend the games to all!
