I said I missed comedians... Skelton is another as well... Not my fault I couldn't use more than 10...

Who is this Redd Foxx and why is he a better option on the list than Bill Hicks? Also I admit I'm partial to the humor (and particularly the dry delivery of said humor) of Ron White.

But of the ones that are named in your list there, I'd have to say Robin Williams. He's a naturally funny guy.

I am also going from an American's point of view, seeing how you are half a world away, we are bound to have different opinions on comedians...

Yes Ron White is a decent comedian, but to mention him I felt I would have had to mention Larry The Cable Guy, Bill Engvall, and Jeff Foxxworthy... So to mention one and not all of them since they do very well as a group {Blue Collar Comedy}, I choose to leave them all out... Hence the reason I put in the 10th Option as being A Comedian Not Listed...

How can you not be familiar with Bill Hicks? He's one of the greatest Americans of all time. He's right up there with John Wayne, mom's apple pie and the Stars and Stripes! And, y'know, Jim the Old Guy

Bill Hicks was one of those people that you look and you say "that guy is way ahead of his time.." His comedy and his views on life and religion and politics were, in my opinion, revolutionary. If you want to get a real feel on what type of comedian he was, get online, find his cd Relentless and buy it...don't listen to samples or any bull like that...just buy it, and wait for it to arrive at your house. Pop it into the cd player, and just revel in the glory.

There, that pretty much says it all... Not Just ME, But Most Of This Country Ignored Him... Says so in his Biography... I'm not in the UK and have never been to the UK, that doesn't say I don't plan on visiting there, after all I have in-laws who live there that my wife wants to see again before any of them die...


This is why I made the 10th option "Comedian Not Listed"... So if you didn't like the 9 listed you could choose that... No need to bitch me out over a dead comedian who was never popular in the States...

By those who saw him, yes. He also toured something like 300 days a year, appearing all over the U.S.

So just because he didn't have his own sit-com, doesn't mean he wasn't great. Because he is, to me, and to many people who've seen and heard him, the greatest comedian that ever was.

And if you took the time to check him out, you would find out why. Open mind, open heart, buddy.

That's fine and dandy, maybe he was good, but America didn't seem to think so... Sit-Com has nothing to do with it... You don't need to have a Sit-Com to be a great comedian... Numbers 2, 6, 7, and 8 never had Sit-Coms, but they were/are great comedians... I put Comedians I knew on the List and I left the 10th option open for Comedians not on the list...

I really don't care how much he toured, America apparently didn't find him funny considering it says in his Own Biography that he was Mostly Ignored here... You found him to be funny, great... Bitching me out over it, isn't going to change anything...

What on earth gave you the impression that I was "bitching" to you? And get out of here with that 'Practice what you preach' line. That's intarwub slang for 'I am rubber you are glue', and it doesnt' work on me. It doesn't make you seem righteous to anybody else on this board. It serves merely to show that you try your level best to make me seem the offender when I am not. If you're going to claim, in the open, that I am acting like less of a man, well Sir, I take offense. But I can live with it, you are entitled to your opinions. Hell, I can even forgive it, in time. Secondly, I hope your manners improve. You are brash, arrogant and abrupt, and you have not earned the right to treat other boardmembers that way. We do not have a "thing". We are not "pals" who understand each other's "ways". This is not how respect comes about, and it is certainly not how it grows.

I hope you will consider what I've said in earnest, because if I didn't believe there was a place for you here, or if I didn't think there was hope, I would not have bothered typing all of this. I don't waste my time on irredeemable people.

Also, I don't care if the greater majority of America didn't like him. Bill Hicks stood up and told the world the Truth the way he saw it, and a man like that is worth his weight in gold. No matter what time he lives in.

There will be no apology unless it comes from you... You come in this Thread and criticize my point of views on Comedy, On Comedy of all subjects... All this over a Comedian that I had never heard of... I'll say it for you again... I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF BILL HICKS!!!{until now, obviously} Is that clear enough for you??? I live in America, and if the Network Television Stations in America are going to Ignore someone and not publicize him for people to become familiar with him, there is a 95% chance that a mere citizen like myself will not have heard of him... It wasn't really America that Ignored him... That action was chosen by businessmen in suits smoking cigars around a conference table... They choose that he was not funny and refused to put him in the spotlight... So America was tagged with the label of ignoring him, when the mere viewer wasn't even given the option...
There are plenty of comedians who speak their minds about life, Lewis Black is a very funny man and he tells it like it is... But he didn't let stiffs in suits push him around, he continued his fight and is now a very well known comedian here in the states... Hicks let them push him out, he didn't stay and fight, he choose to go elsewhere and it did him good apparently...

But at this point, I must say, I've buffered and watched over 2 hours of Bill Hicks and I can Honestly say, I understand why America Ignored him... I didn't find him funny... Just like I don't really find Andrew Dice Clay funny, but I do know he is/was popular... But I at least knew the latter which is why he made the poll list... If I knew of Hicks and knew he was popular, he might have been placed on the poll... I tried my damnedest to spread out the types of comedians the best I could... That way just about every type was represented...
