Flash Mob Freeze! Sydney (Jun 24th)...

I am organising a Flash Mob Freeze!
A flash mob is a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual action for a brief time, then quickly disperse
The 'Freeze' flash mob has seen great success in Grand Central Station, Paris, Trafalgar Square, Tokyo and Bejing, each with as many as 3,000 people involved!

Watch the freeze at Grand Central Station.

However, here in Sydney we will have a different flavour... so here's the plan:

1. We meet at a discreet location, where everyone will be briefed on their instructions, and watches/mobile phones will be synchronized.

2. We all disperse to different areas across the city… but not too far, because…

3. At the discussed time, we will all converge on the designated area and await the deadline.

4. Once we reach the deadline, at exactly the same time everyone will freeze. This will last for 5 minutes.

5. After exactly 5 minutes, everyone will then re-animate and disperse until they are out of the area.

6. After this time, everyone will meet back to celebrate!!

So for those of you who can make it into Sydney city at that time (I am saying this to probably all two of you haha), that will be awesome. As for the rest of you, thisis just a heads up so you can watch the progress of this event so when you see it on your tube, you can say "I know that guy!"

. . .and when you post it on youtube, I promise to freeze for 5 minutes while I watch it! :)
Never too late for coffee, never too early for beer.
I agree with both above, with the Exception that I am in the States, not Norway...

It's late and I'm tired, so I don't feel like looking for it right now, but I do remember something being on the News about everyone riding a Subway in their Underwear one day... I don't remember where it was either...

So is this Flash Mob thing a result of that???

Sounds like a great opportunity to kiss all the girls while they're frozen.

Trust the Doc to figure it out!

I'm sure I saw some similar kind of prank... with lots of people with similar shirts going into a store (maybe an electrical one) and freaking people out since they looked like a cult despite not doing anything special. But can't remember the link.

Ah! After searching I realised its the same people lol.

These guys are all sorts of fantastic and awesome.

Best of luck with the event. I look forward to the video.

Cub,
I'm wondering if you are going to be a freeze participant, or are you going to be one of the camera guys filming the event? Do you plan to have multiple cameras at fixed locations, multiple roving cameras or a single roving camera?
I saw about 200 people 'freeze' at Liverpool Street Station, London last night. There was one guy who turned his umbrella inside out, looking like the wind had caught it, there was a couple kissing, there were a few mostly staring or halfway through drinking something.

They were supposed to freeze for four minutes and a few only froze for a bit and some froze, moved and re-froze, but there were a few photographers there and a few people with camcorders filming it, walking between the people.

When it started two people at different ends blew whistles and they blew them again when it ended.

I must admit I wondered if they'd unfreeze if I tried to take their wallets.....

...And I thought *I* was the bad one for thinking about kissing the girls.

I am going to be one of the freeze participants. I already have a few people lines up to film it, and might make a short doco video on the event. One of my friends is going to modify his camera to make the flash stay on so it look like time froze mid flash. I think I might be one of the folks posing for a shot.

There is a couple of overpasses either side of the area we plan to freeze, so there will be some great filming vantage points from there.

So far we have 45 people confirmed (within the first 2 days of the event announcement), over 120 possible more, and over 1,400 invited. Such is the power of Facebook, it just keeps spreading. And the scary part, technically I am related to all of these people by less than 6 degrees (or maybe even 4 to think of it).

June 24th huh... Is there a Time set on this yet???

I wonder if we tip off the News Stations here in the States if they'll send someone down there to broadcast you all...

So far we have reached over 1,200 confirmed guests! And there is still over 5 weeks to go!

We might even beat the French!

Everybody beats the french... *slaps knee* Haw haw!

No, seriously :p

Just do a search in Google for French Military Victories and hit the I'm Feeling Lucky button. You'll see what I mean.
