One of those little things I always wondered about
It depends on where you are and what's the occasion.
If you're 'indoors' at the bank, the Mall, restaurant, or other public place or business, shoes are on. (Unless it's one of those Japanese restaurants where you sit on the floor.)
If you're at home, most likely you remove shoes.
If you're having a house party, it depends on the kind of party and manner of dress. If the party is somewhat formal, particularly if the ladies are in high heels, then shoes certainly stay on (shoes complete the outfit.) If the party is not formal, most guests remove their shoes at the door unless it's one of those parties that occupy all the grounds, outdoors and in. Then removing shoes is impractical.
With most everybody wearing soft soled athletic shoes (which require lacing-up and tying,) it is often too much a nuisance to remove them compared to the marginal benefit. So it depends on how long you are likely to be indoors before going out again.
Is it true European women really don't shave their legs?

If you're going out to the bank, the Mall, restaurant, or other public place or business, and you a waering a skirt, you shave your legs (Unless it's one of those Greek restaurants where your leg hair drags on the floor.)
If you're at home, most likely you never bother.
If you're having a house party, it depends on the kind of party and manner of dress. If the party is somewhat formal, particularly if the ladies are in high heels, then you definitely want to shave. If the party is not formal, most guests leave their inhibitions at the door unless it's one of those parties that occupy all manner of cultures, hairy legs or not. Then removing hair is impractical and only serves as a topic of conversation (some for, and some against), a rather uncomfotable position for said hairy person.
With most everybody wearing denim jeans (which are covering-up most of the legs) it is often too much a nuisance to shave them compared to the marginal benefit. So it depends on how long you are likely to be growing your hair before going out again.

P.S. I just noticed you employ double spacing Doc... you really are a gentleman of the old school!

Well personally I don´t know any european women that don´t shave their legs. But I can mainly speak for Germany and Denmark. Maybe it´s different in the south, somehow I never thought about it until you brought it up.
But if anyone doesen´t shave their legs you can be sure it´s old women ( No offense).

Most middle class American homes I've been in have a strict rule about removing shoes at the door as not to get spots on their perfect carpets (never mind that homes get lived in). In such a home, if you're seen with shoes on indoors you face the wrath of hell
I have a pair of cheap rip-off "Crocs" specifically for wearing inside. I'm never without them, because going barefoot gives me painfully bad posture. Back trouble is something Tex and I have in common

Yes we pretty much wear shoes where ever we go...Fred Buer wrote:Do americans really wear shoes indoors?

Speaking of women in the east shaving, do they shave their Armpits???

With the exception of a rug in the library, all of the floors in my house are hardwood or ceramic tile. Very easy to clean and care for, so we never ask people to remove their shoes - but they generally do anyway. Most middle class American homes I've been in have a strict rule about removing shoes at the door as not to get spots on their perfect carpets
However, I do provide razors for women, if needed.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!

Tell me however, what do you mean by double spacing?
