Well i live on the Gold Coast where all the theme parks are, but once you've seen one theme park, you've pretty much seen em all.

Brisbane has a really good modern art gallery, a decent regular art gallery and an ok science museum.

I guess tourists really like the beach as well, and there are many good beaches on the east coast.

I'm sure you'll find plenty to do

4 Weeks... Wow... Most people I know here in the states are only allowed to take 2 weeks at a time Max... Being Boss, I can take as much time whenever I want, but the Norm here in the states seems to be about 2 weeks... You all over there get some great Vacation time compared to the Norm here...

4 Weeks of Vacation, you should be able to see most of the "Main Attractions" wherever you go... It's seeing the "Real Side" of places that I like, not just the Tourist Traps... I love to travel... Over the next few years we are suppose to go to England at some point, hopefully before my Wife's Grandfather passes away... He is in his 80s and I'd like to meet the man, plus she has only met him twice herself... Especially after knowing her grandmother, I gotta meet the man who once called her his wife... A Very Strong Man he must be... lol

Yeah well - here in Denmark we get 5 weeks of paid vacation throughout the whole year from our employer and after 9 months of employment we get an addition week, so all in all we have 6 weeks of vacation which we can take whenever we want - and of course whenever it suits the other employees in our respectable departments. Normally we say that we take 3 weeks of vacation in summer time (June - August) and the remaining 3 weeks can be placed in Fall, at Christmas-time, around February and around Easter-time. Those are the times where our public school also have their vacations and a lot of families decide to take their vacation by then, so that they can spend it with their children

Anyway - more places in Australia would be nice to know. I'm pretty sure, my girlfriend and I aren't that interested in seeing too many beaches. We would like to experience things as well. Besides - when we end up in Cairns at the end of the vacation we will be spending 4-5 days in Palm Cove at a great-looking resort right by the beach, so there we will be relaxing by the beach, go experience the reefs and such.

Wow, 6 weeks before your first year of employment is up... I can't let any of my employees see this, so you all keep your mouths shut...

Takes most people 15 to 20 years just to work up to that and then it is 90% of the time Frowned upon to try and take it all at one time... To leave the work place for more than 2 to 3 weeks would be "Unamerican", I guess in most people's eyes...

Well, if I should be completely correct it is a bit more to it than that, so here goes.

IF you haven't had employment at all or in over a year, you are not eligible to get any paid vacation at all from the new employer. So in case you want vacation, you have to pay for it yourself.

Depending on when you started work at a company, you will then earn vacation for next year. You earn vacation during a normal calendar year from January 1st to December 31st but in Denmark we have a thing called a "vacation-year" which goes from May 1st to April 30th meaning that's the time where the earned vacation can be spent.

For example in my previous job, I started on August 1st of 2003. There I was not able to have any paid vacation for the rest of that "vacation-year", so in my case I didn't have any paid vacation from August 1st of 2003 until April 30th of 2004. By May 1st of 2004 where the new "vacation-year" started I have earned vacation from August 1st, 2003 to December 31st, 2003 - meaning I have earned vacation about 2 weeks of vacation for the entire "vacation-year" of 2004-2005.

The way I calculated the 2 weeks of vacation is as follows:

August 1st to December 31st = 5 months. We normally get 25 days of vacation during the year. This means that I have earned 5/12 of the 25 days which is 10,42 days.

BUT as I said before - after 9 months of employment we get an addition 5 days of vacation, so in my case by May 1st (9 months after I got employed), I got another 5 days meaning I had 15,42 days of vacation after the first 9 months of employment at my old company which could be held during the "vacation-year". By the time of the next "vacation-year" I would have had 30 days of vacation.

I know it must sound absolutely confusing, so don't hesitate to ask if you can't quite follow

There are more "rules" as for when I change job which I just did 4 months ago. But then it's just a question of my old employer to pay me the money for the vacation-time I never got to take, because it's obvious that the new employer can't pay my vacation, when I decide to do so

Hunter Valley (a must for the appreciators of fine wine and food)
Blue Mountains (and the Jenolan caves!!)
Kangaroo Valley (some of the most tranquil rolling landscapes you will see)
Parkes (largest radio telescope in the southern hemisphere if you want to see where the moon landing was broadcast from)
Last but not least: Me! (I can help tour you around Sydney if you like, I've done it many times before and I love it!)

Queensland:

Sunshine Coast (what else can I say)
Surfer's Paradise (self explanatory)
Cairns (of course)
Byron Bay (bring your weed, and incense)
Great Barrier Reef (a MUST)
...and if you make it to the Whitsunday islands try and visit Hamilton and Hayman Islands

Catch a match of Australian Rules football at the MCG... let me know closer to the date and I will let you know when the big games are).

Central NSW often gets some sub zero temps, especially around Canberra. I would tell you to visit Canberra being our country's capital and all but you will get the pants bored off you. Which is perfect because they have a booming porn industry there, and fireworks are not illegal!

Hmm... dunno, but rumors are out that witnesses way one guy fly off on one of the bigger fireworks... all that was found 32 miles from the scene was the remains of the firework casing and a cowboy hat.
