Just got back...

From camping in Pagosa Springs, Co. The weather was beautiful. It rained every evening and it never got above the upper 70's in temperature throughout the entire day. Nothing like being in healthy, green woods for a week.

I went to Durango while on my trip and found a nice copy of The Pandora Directive novel in an antique bookstore. It only cost $3 so I had to buy it. I also found another vintage fedora...so rest assured I'm still feeding the addiction. :D

Still, its good to be back. I go back to my security job at the university next week, and I'm about two weeks away from starting my final semester of my Bachelor's Degree. Busy times ahead.

Busy times indeed. At least you got away for a little bit. Good luck!

Doesn't that just make your day? Everytime I hit a used bookstore I hope. I've gotten pretty lucky. :D

Sounds like you had a restful holiday. Welcome back! And congrats on your LAST bit of college. Woot!
Thanks for the wishes of "luck" for the final semester. I'll be sure to keep posting updates. I'm planning to probably move from New Mexico within six months (for the first time in 19 years). Not sure where I'm going yet...but a professional job and apartment/house will be in the works. :D

I'm getting my Bachelor's in Criminology with a minor in Psychology.

I'm an investigator by heart. I guess I have Tex and some of the other adventure games of the "Golden Era of Adventure Games" to thank for that. I've been a licensed apprentice private investigator in Albuquerque, New Mexico for three years now. I know the basics of investigation and have mainly assisted grieving families of unsolved homicides. I've done casework from basic incident report analysis to surveillance and witness locates and interviews.

Not sure I'm going to stick with PI work as a whole. I'm entertaining the possibility of doing civil or human rights investigations for federal or state government. It's just a good field. Every day is different and I feel like I have the potential to make a difference and accomplish something.

I know the feeling... Federal is the way to go if you want Excitement and Travel... You'll be based out of your hometown {where ever you decide you want to live}, but for 3 days out of a week you could be in Miami investigating and then for 2 days next week you could be sitting in San Diego or San Fran... Then another week or 2 go by and you find yourself chilling in Dallas for a couple days... It's definitely for the young before you choose to settle down...
Once you choose to settle down you might want to drop to either State/Local Government or take up a desk job within your hometown Federal Office...

Very good field to be getting into... Sadly it is, and well always be, in demand...

Best Of Luck To You...

Thanks for the advice and the good wishes Bafitis.

Not from the same country but still definitely recommend federal. Best conditions, decent salary, get to travel and see new things/cases pretty much everywhere the job takes you.

I used this site to apply for an American library job in Iraq and a Forest Ranger job. I thought it would be exciting! But I never heard anything back.

USAJobs does seem to be a very good resource. I've had a few search agents created on that site, and would have applied for an investigative position with EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) just last week if they hadn't said candidates needed all credentials filled within 30 days. I won't have my Bachelor's till December, although I do have several years professional work experience under my belt already.
