Noooooooooooooooooooooo!

I loved that bugger. Great man with a great voice, and such a funny story behind it.

Oh man. Why did they take his voice from us? :(

Ahhhh yes, the world's most recognisable and iconic voice over, I hope they do a tribute to him at the next Academy Awards.

I don't mean to depart from the heartfelt sentiment of the thread, but I never failed to laugh when I learned that one of his nicknames was "Thunder Throat". Still cracks me up to this day. May the thunder roar on!
I wonder if they'll keep using his voice for new trailers by editing together different segments of his work - I mean, I'm they could make a library of every common english word from his body of work, though it may sound a bit mended here and there...or would that be unethical? :?

So is James Earl Jones taking over now?
As good as Jones is, I don't think anyone can replace the "Introduction" Guy... So many movies that he introduced and announce, so many commercials he was used for, just so much... Finding a Replacement will most likely never happen...

Usually, when someone has a very distinctive and familiar voice, it is not very difficult to imitate it. Like Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart, Elvis, Ed Sullivan, etc. It'll probably be done with this guy's voice.

Funny you should say that becuase there are already so many out there that do a good job of it, and are doing trailers as well:

Then sadly, maybe he won't be missed as long as we think he will... Either way he has done a Superb job over the years...

I always thought Jon St. John of Duke Nukem Fame would be really good at it.

He does tons of voices.

Actually, after watching March of the Penguins, do you think Morgan Freeman could be the next voice over guy? I can see his voice working over a number of film trailers including the genres of comedy, drama and maybe action.

Sadly I think he is too old to start something like that... I believe he is 71 or 72, somewhere around there... We would just start to get use to him and something healthwise would probably end up happening...
Kiefer Sutherland would be a good voice for Voice Overs...

I think Deforest Kelly would have been a good Voice Over person... Sadly he passed some years ago now...
