Intriguing FMV Game for Wii

I was checking out Gametrailers.com and saw in interesting Wii game. It's completely Japanese but it got my attention so I figured I'd share it here:

I think it's actually called 428. The beginning is a tad long and drawn out considering you can't read Japanese (unless you actually can) but it does pick up.

Looks interesting... despite being able to read some of the language, even I find many Japanese based storylines way too drawn out or complicated to be as enjoyable as the creators/directors wanted them to be. But that said, I like the photography, and I am interested in finding out how you actually control the game... and of course if I can get a version to run on my PAL system.

Right now, no interest. Although here's a few things I've dug up about the game.
This first web site describes the game as a visual novel. Based on that description...
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/20 ... me-project
...and along with screenshots from their web site...
http://chun.sega.jp/428/system/
...the game appears to be a choose your own adventure. Not really a game, but then again, the Wii's an odd system.
So, yeah. The Wii's a disappointing system.

I actually agree with you Cub on long drawn out stories. As for the game after reading that little tidbit about it I am not sure I wanna play it now. As for the Wii, I like that it's not like the others, gives me more time with my 360. I think the Wii is so underutilized it's sickening. No one seems to know what the hell to do with it other than make it a glorified pointer or salt shaker. I also think people are so woo-ed by graphics that that is their major drawing factor for NOT developing for the Wii. However the huge amounts of Wii's sold makes them not want to do nothing, so we suffer with a sea of mediocre games.
I have to admit I am on the fence with the Wii, aside from a couple gem games it is pretty much a disappointment. I am not sure how this generation will end for Wii but if it keeps up it will be sooner than Nintendo thinks. After their disappointing showing at E3 with their lack of games I do not have faith that Nintendo's little box will withstand the drought. (keep in mind I love Nintendo, mostly Mario but Nintendo too. Mario is pretty much the reason I will always buy a Nintendo machine.) The only game that I saw that I wanted to purchase for the 2009 season thus far was a new Punchout! game. FINALLY I can do what the Powerglove promised me 20 years ago! Anyway I really hope Nintendo has something good on the horizon. They have the profits now to try crazy stuff (I don't think Wii Music is gonna cut it) to get people to rush to the stores. Gimme a good Starfox game that doesn't insult my intelligence. Bring on a Kid Icarus game that the fans have been crying for since 1986. HELL GIMME MORE MARIO GALAXY LEVELS! I don't care if it makes sense or not to the story, I just want more levels to play! . . . and stop making Mario cute like Mickey Mouse! He was cool in his own right, now you're just making him annoying. *cough* sorry went on a bit of a rant there. I'd be surprised if someone from Nintendo even looks at this board.
Well on that note I am gonna go play some Megaman 9 and get angry at the old school hardness/awesomeness of a new NES game.

If you want a game that shows off more capabilities of the Wii, get De Blob!
Also, have you seen what this guy (
http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=Jd3-eiid-Uw) can achieve with the Wii technology! It's amazing! If only Nintendo could incorporate this into games it would totally re-invent gaming!
Thoughts?

Cub, that was totally AMAZING. I knew of head tracking, but this is so fleshed out. I mean, seriously, why aren't we using this already?

That's what I'm talking about! Now we're going places! Imagine this hooked up to the 3d steam tv thingy I once saw on display, and we're really cooking!
(It was a tv where steam was produced and the image was rendered three-dimensionally in the steam. Pure awesomesauce!)

I know how to do this, sort of.
The 3D library program that I wrote is a real time 3D application. However, in my program, I use mouse and keyboard input to control the view and position.
It turns out though, that Java 3D has built in support for interfacing head-mount input. I have studied how to do it, but never did because I don't have any head-mount hardware.
I think this fellow's usage of Wii hardware to construct a makeshift VR helmet a very cool idea. From the YouTube, it appears that the guy has connected the Wii sensor to his laptop PC. I wonder if he had to build an interface to allow the sensor to talk to the pc, or if the Wii sensor uses a standard interface like serial, parallel or usb. Anyone know? I've never used a Wii.

The Wiimotes connect wirelessly via bluetooth, so I am pretty sure that he might have bridged that connection with some kind of dongle on the PC.
I plan on downloading his software soon and seeing if I can achieve the same results myself, and will post a run-through here to share my results.

Aaahh!! Jim is catching up to me! *Runs on ahead*
Also, I have a lot of gaming consoles, but no Wii. Got a NES, a SNES, a Sega Megadrive, a Playstation, a PS2, a PS3 and a Xbox 360. That's what happens when you take care of the things you own
I just don't feel that the Wii has anything to offer me.

I think the Wii was way over rated when it came out... I expected a lot more out of it myself... At this point I'm kind of sorry I got one... Sure you can download almost any game ever made by Nintendo, but a lot of them they just want too much for...
