It's official....

I've been laid off. Or, for those of our friends across the pond, I've been sacked. I got the ax thursday night last week right after my shift ended. I was told I could go ahead and be done or I could go ahead and work Friday and Saturday. So, since I am broke, I worked my last two days and bid that place sweet farewell. 7 years, man. You don't think your job is going to go anywhere, then WHOOSH!!! Gone.

Just thought I would let everyone know what's been up with me since I've been missing from the board since last week.

I'm so sorry! That sucks to no end. :x

I hope you find something soon.

Sorry to hear that my friend... I heard on the news just recently, Saturday I think that the Delivery Industry was going through cutbacks... As Jen said, that sucks to no end...

Such hard times now and ahead... bad luck man. I hope you can find something else.

I guess everyone's job is in danger. Lets hope nobody else gets the shaft.

Oh man that sucks! What are you gonna do (besides sell all your Tex memorabilia)?

This is sad to hear :(

And on such a short notice.

I hope things will be better soon!
Played it once, stuck for life.
Being laid off isn't the same as being "sacked." Well, it is, but not quite.

 I'm always afraid of losing my job. I can't imagine what I'd do without a job.
I'm in the position of trying to figure out what I would do without a job....and I haven't found any answers yet.

I had an interview yesterday at Toy's R Us for an overnight warehouse job....it's only seasonal but it's something. They offered it to me and I accepted, however, there is no guarantee they will offer me a full time position after the holidays, but this place in Mt. Vernon, IN is interviewing me on wednesday and they are hiring a full time position...plus it will have benefits...but the pay sucks ass. I thought maybe I could do both, but that would leave me about 5 hours every night to sleep, eat, and see my family. Times are tough, but if that's something I gotta do, then I will do it. I have a test to take today at Dish Network to become an installer...if I pass it, I will be considered for employment I guess. Guess we will see how that goes. I've been on the waiting list for the Post Office for about 6 or 7 months now...that will last about 3 years then I will have to retest again.

Really, the only bright point I've had the last 2 or 3 days is I took a bunch of dvd's that I don't watch ever, and traded them in for 2 dvd sets of Ghost Hunters. So, I think I will bid every one a good day, and head into the living room and plop on the couch and veg out for a bit with my paranormal activity. :o) Thanks so much for the encouraging words.....you guys (and girls) are truly good friends. I'll keep everyone of you in mind when I hit the powerball!

Harsh times indeed. We hear about the cuts but really realise when it hits close to home. It's sad when it happens to anyone, but it's especially sad when I see it happening to one of us.

You were with DHL right? Strange coincidence that I saw their internal annual report yesterday, it had quite the somber tone.

I hope you'll find something soon, and something decent. Some companies are obviously going to take advantage of the job shortage to ask things they normally wouldn't or cut on paychecks, and you deserve better. Of course during hard times you don't really care about such things, and that's commendable of you.

I know you're tough and a good sport, just be sure not to lose your spirit over it.

Harsh times ahead my man, harsh times indeed. But who knows, you might catch a lucky break. It does happen, y'know.

And if not, dilligence is next on your list of things that can help you out.

But like the man said, I'd rather be lucky than good.

Hope things turn out okay before the end ;) (As in, sooner rather than later) Take care bud!

I'm sorry to hear about the job. Things really are pretty tough, and questionable right now. I'm not in the same position as you, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that someone will want to hire me within the next two months as I wrap up my degree. Still, its hard to say...I've put in several resumes with companies so far, but have heard absolutely nothing.

Hopefully it will smooth over and work out for all of us without any more damage; though I don't know what the odds of that are.

Really sorry to hear that. I hope things improve soon.

We're going through a bit of a rough time as well but hopefully this will pass for all of us soon.

If I could I'd send you beer.

Now there's an idea! Adnins, you can start the world's first beer gift delivery service. You experience with DHL should help you out with this. It's kind of like floral gift delivery to peoples homes, but instead it is beers, or champagne! You may think its a silly idea, but how many times have you wanted to buy a drink for someone over the other side of the country (or the globe, as David just demonstrated).

-Cub. =o)
Uhm... Wouldn't that be kind of hard? I mean, how many people not yet old enough to buy beer wouldn't put that service to bad use? :D The red tape is endless.

No. Much better to buy a Icecream Truck. Convert it to a Icecold Beer truck. Drive around and sell beer on lazy sundays. You'd make a mint.
