Watch the Video again, you can see him reach down and take the second shoe off... If SS had done their job, he shouldn't have had time for that... I saw a better video clip on my phone, but can't find it on youtube... The clip I saw on my phone gave a wider shot of the room and you can see the guy reach down and take the other shoe off... I personally think the secret service did a great job. They managed to assess that it was a non lethal attack, and it was only shoes and chose not to use any form of lethal force, and brought him down within a few seconds of releasing his second shoe.
It just goes to show that not everything has to be shoot first, ask questions later.

Also, imagine that you are the secret service agent. The one that dove in front of the President. The one that took the shoe to the chest. That would have made for an even funnier video than what it is now. If a secret service agent did that, there would be videos all over youtube of him diving through the air, in slow motion with Matrix-esque music playing in the background.
Funny you should say that... Jay Leno showed the new Nike Commercial that they are going to run {yes I know it was just made up by The Tonight Show's Staff}...
