As of yesterday, (Sept. 26th) I am now an officially licensed private investigator apprentice.

I took a few classes with a PI a year ago, and through my continued interest, I am finally training as one, taking on cases and carrying a license... :D

Just figured I'd let everyone here know, considering we are all fans of Tex, Film Noir, and mysteries in general.

Heh, I'll definitely keep that in mind. And actually, I was interested in being a PI even before I met Tex, somewhere around the age of seven or eight...must run in my blood, I've had relatives who have been detectives and police type fellows...

Are you gonna specialize like Ford Fairlane, Rock and Roll Detective of Ace Ventura, Pet Detective?

My impression is that most PI cases are divorce-related. Is that true? What other kinds of things are typical?

Well, the license that I have right now is an employee license, which basically states I'm a licensed investigator, yet I work for somebody, and I have to go through that person with decisions I make for cases; basically a mentor. The investigator I'm working with said that I would probably be working my first case as an unsolved homicide. If the investigative company gets other cases, which it does, the coordinator and me and the other employees discuss and decide if any of us wants to take the case. I did work a suirvallence (sp?) with another investigator at the company this summer.

Yes, it is true that a lot of the cases are divorce cases. Nicely enough, the company I am working for does not take those cases. Her view is that if there is a problem with the marriage, then the money the party would spend on an investigator would be better put to use for counceling. I tend to agree.
