STEAM - NEED URGENT HELP!

Hi everyone,
sorry to create a separate thread out of this but i've tried everything and still have not had any luck. I just purchased Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis via STEAM. The payment went through successfully since I received an email with the receipt number but it hasn't appeared in MY GAMES list. I've attempted logging out, restarting the PC and going back in and still nothing.

Should I delete STEAM and just reinstall?

ANY help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Are you looking at the 'not installed' portion of your games list? I really can't imagine what could be happening.

I have, yes.

Other things I have tried since:

- changing the download region

- checking "my account", the game appears there as a purchase

- keeping a copy of the receipt in my Inbox, payment confirmed along with procedure for download

- checked firewall settings, nothing too harsh there

The only other conclusion I can come to is that because the game was only available less than 24 hours ago, could the server be experiencing distribution issues? I am in Australia so maybe the software isn't available at that node yet.

I'm going to call it quits for now and go to bed. See how I go tomorrow morning.

Thanks very much, Freepizza! :)
I don't know. If you bought it then it should be available for you. Fred is playing it right now :D Have a good night Joel.

You may have gotten the receipt and your bank/paypal/creditcard or whatever means you used may have cleared the payment, but it may take some time to go through their system to appear cleared...

How long ago did this transaction happen???

I haven't used Steam myself, but I do know they've been around for awhile, I doubt they'll just take your money and run... It will show in their system that you never downloaded it and you have a receipt to prove you've bought it, so in the end you'll either get your money back to turn around and buy it again or they will manually put the game into your account...

So give it maybe a day, like you said you were heading to bed, so try again after you've woken and are ready and if it still isn't showing up, just send them an email... I imagine they'll do right by you...

Well, when I originally started this thread it had only been half an hour. It still hasn't shown up. I even called my bank to confirm if a transaction took place and it did.

So, that leaves two possibilities:

- something at Steam's end

- something at my end, but what?

The only thing I haven't tried is removing STEAM and installing it fresh with the latest version. Is it worth a shot?
Sounds like it is on their end... Send them an email letting them know what has happened... Shouldn't take long for them to come up with a solution...

Steam doesn't automatically update itself??? I doubt that is your problem though... Definitely sounds like it is their problem, but you need to let them know that it has happened...

I've sent the email so i'll give it a few hours and see how we go. Like I said, the product is very very new on STEAM, so if they're having distribution issues, I understand. It's less than 3 days old after all.

Yeah but they shouldn't put it out there if it isn't ready, so all should be well, just have to wait and see what they say...

It is ALIVE! :) It just suddenly came through. Interestingly, when I began re-installing the Half Life components and cancelled it, the game appeared. So it might have been something at my end after all.

Thanks again everyone :)
Probably just coincidence... Usually when things are new there is a high demand for it, so it probably just took their servers time to check up with all the orders... It just happen to come through while you were tinkering with something...
Either way it came through and that is the important part... Do let us know how the game is... ;}

It's... Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. What you said is the food equivalent of "How does a BLT taste?"

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
Couldn't have said it better myself, Fred! lol

It's exactly the game as I remember it back in 1995 when I first played it. I love it. I also went ahead and purchased The Last Crusade and Doom 2. All the games are working and copied immediately to the Games tab. My only gripe is that i'm trying to work out how to remove the subtitles in Fate of Atlantis.

But i'm starting to see the light with STEAM. When it works properly, it's good. But there's still some work to be done, even after all these years.
Oh it's that old... I thought it was something new... I hadn't heard of it before now... And when you bought it you said it was only 3 days old...

Miscommunication I guess...

I was going to say, just because it's Indiana Jones doesn't guarantee that it's going to be good, but if it's an oldie like that, then I'm going to assume that it must be good to be brought back...

I could not agree more. In fact, i'd go as far as saying that any game with the name Indiana Jones on it unfortunately guarantees disappointment as every game that's been made post FOA has sucked.
