I think Cub will have the meanest machine out of all of us. I have a macbook with 2ghz processor and 64mb ram and it runs things like Age of Empires (on the pc side) fine, and no problems at all on anything mac related.

But it's a bit outdated and i want a new computer!

thanks cub,

I have 450w (427)max so it's not a constant, so don't know how much it's actually using.
After I buy the new video card it's going to using more & if I hook up another case fan.

Someone told me to get a 750w but I though to myself do I really need that much. I thought 550w would be plenty.

So it was interesting to who, what PSU people have installed & what they are running.

I have a really nice computer made by somebody important with a large whatever than runs a heck of a lot faster than I do and it shows great quality pics and movies. Hope this is helpful.

Seasonic is also a reliable brand. I'm using a 600w Seasonic PSU now, but I wasn't always.

I learned the hard way never to skimp on power supplies. I had 600w cheapo PSU in my computer, and it did this to my plug:

The rest of the computer was fine, but I replaced it very soon after.

I ended installing a corsair 650 modular, got rid of old ide cables & put in round ide cables to power the floppy & dvd drive due to video card (nvidea 9600) longer than what I had installed & the old ide cables took up too much room.

this has made all the difference, plenty of air flow & also added a front fan.

I was also considering getting a new sata dvd drive but at the time no-one had stock of the pioneer.

system looks great.
