I just picked up a copy of this game because I spend my days suckling at Bioware's teat.

Yea, if you like Baldur's Gate then this is a game for you.

I got the game last tuesday and after several hours each day since i'm still going strong and not close to finishing! Great game, great characters, great story.

The spells/talents etc could have used more of a flesh out, but overall i'm loving this game.

I won't go on and on, unless you have a specific question that i might answer, but I recommend picking the game up if you have the opportunity.

I'd compare it more towards Knight's of the Old Republic than Baldur's Gate. Though it might be because I got the 360 version.
