Winter Blast...

This is a record for this area... I'm loving it... Others are all panicked and scared thinking it will never end...
Started Friday evening around 5pm and has lasted all through Saturday, stopping around 4pm...

Fortunately, we in the Detroit area missed this storm; too far north and that is fine with me. Hope things are OK with you, Baf.

Oh I love these storms Jim, no harm my way... Got a 3/4 ton Suburban if I really need to get anywhere, got a Snow Blower so I'm not hefting a shovel and I got a Generator in case the lines go down...
I'm a Mountain Man at heart, I'd live out in Montana at the Cabin if I could, but I'm not allowed to take my Son that far away from his mother...
Thanks for your Concern though Jim...

I live for these storms, especially in this town... Watching everyone panic and everything, you'd swear they act like we're gonna be snowed in for weeks or months... It's hilarious...

How much has fallen?
I have seen worse. In 2006 we got 52 cm ie. just shy of 2 feet, in one night.
Public transportation was shut down for the first time in 30 yrs.
30 yrs ago, we got 72cm which is about 2 and a half feet.
Mind you, we are right in the snow belt though =P

Brrr. Living the south I'm am just getting cold hearing about the storms. Somehow I feel better about dealing with hurricanes than the snow.
I'm glad you guys haven't suffered power outages like I've heard. I hope people are managing to keep warm.

In my area the official measurement was 30.5 inches, which is about 77cm if my calculations are right in the conversion...
Yeah this was all in one night as well, well about 18 to 20 hours, so over night I guess is better...
We might get about another foot from a storm coming this Tuesday/Wednesday... If it hits just right we'll get another foot or so...
Like I said, this is nothing compared to what I've dealt with in Montana, but it's just so Hilarious watching everyone freak out like it is the end of the world or something...
Sam, I have a Generator if the power happens to go out... So I'll be good either way...
I have to disagree with you though... I think I would much rather be Snowed-In at my house rather than have my house torn apart and scattered across 3 counties...
Here's the front of my house... My mail box stands about 4 to 4 1/2 feet off the ground...
This is across the street...

Well in Texas the counties are rather large. Your stuff won't get blown that far.

I usually evacuate it looks like it's going to be bad. I personally would start to feel claustrophic snowed in my house without being able to get outside.
I'm glad you've got a generator. Life without power, internet, and tv totally sucks.

I've never seen a white winter... except for 1 year when I went up to the mountains. We just don't get snow anywhere else in Australia in winter, and certainly not in the cities. I want some though!

I heard another big storm was coming your way. I hope you don't get buried alive up there. Brrr. Just thinking about it makes me want some hot cocoa.

Yeah that storm is winding down finally, got about another 20 inches or so around here...
This has been fantastic... Practically the whole state has shut down...
Got a small storm coming this weekend, but that will only be 2 to 5 inches if it hits right...
I did notice a storm brewing on the west coast though, gonna have to keep an eye on it and see what happens with it...
Turning out to be a great Winter... We've already broken our Seasonal Snow Fall and we still have about 5 weeks of Winter to go... Too Kewl...

Hey Bafitis,
How did you insert the pictures into you message? Do you have to post it on website somewhere and link to it or do you somehow upload it to the forum?
Sam

Those pictures are already in an album on my Facebook page... I just right clicked on the picture I wanted and selected "View Image", it then sends the picture to a blank web page with nothing but the Picture... I then copied the Page Address in the Location Bar pasted it in the message box, highlighted the address and clicked on the IMG button across the bottom of the message box...
It links to the Address and pulls the picture here... As long as the picture remains where it is and the address does not change the picture will be posted here...
In short, yes it needs to be posted on the Web somewhere and you just Link it...
There are websites that are just for photo uploading that a lot of people use, photobucket, flickr, etc... I just don't see any point in uploading the photo more than once... Since I already have it on Facebook, I see no reason to go and upload it to photobucket or some other site...

That looks like a standard norwegian winter

Imagine having that for four months of the year, every year!
