This week marks Jay Leno returning to the Tonight Show. The question is does anybody care? Who's your favorite?

Who are the others? I've heard of Letterman but haven't a clue about the others

Really only heard of Letterman? I didn't realize people outside of the US might not know about our talk show guys. There's been a big to do lately with one talk show host getting ousted for another.

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are on Comedy Central here so you probably might not get them but I thought you might have heard about the big fight between Leno and O'Brien.

Demonlawyer, I'll file you under the "don't care" category. :)

What's this about Leno and O'Brien?

Johnny Carson all the way...

Well of course Johnny but sadly he and Ed are gone now so we've got to make due with what's out there now.

Fred,
Oh man it's such a long tale. I'll try my best to give you the quick and dirty.

2004: The network promises to give the Tonight Show to O'Brien in 2009. At that time they would retire Leno to another show earlier in the evening.
2009: The switch over happens.
2010: O'Brien and Jay both have low ratings compared to Letterman. The network asks O'Brien to move to a later time slot so they can move Jay back to his original time slot. O'Brien refuses to move. Leno wants control of the Tonight Show back. Verbal lashings go back and forth. In the end, the network ousts O'Brien with a hefty severance package and Leno is reinstated back to his original show.

I'm in the Colbert camp. Stewart's good, but I think Colbert is more amusing.

I've seen very little of all of these guys. Well, except Letterman, of course. For some reason his show airs over here. Like a week or month later, but, meh... Talkshows are very american, I think.

However I will admit I have seen O'Brien's Walker-Texas-Ranger-lever on youtube and laughed my entire ass off!

Also, Bill O'Reilly needs to get punted with apples.

Fred,
If you are ever curious all the talk show hosts now show videos on their websites of their episodes so you can get a free sampling.

I have to admit I loved Jon Stewart before Colbert came onto the scene. Now Stephen is my favorite. He is just so much funnier and over the top. I love seeing the next crazy thing he's going to do.

I agree with that. When Colbert first started, I was skeptical, but he quickly became my favorite.

I must admit I don't watch much TV as it is but we don't get those talk shows here (that I know of). So are Leno's ratings up?

And Rod Stewart's doing talk shows now??

Seriously, never heard of most of them. Does Graham Norton still do one?

I love Graham Norton. He's hilarious when I watch him on BBC America. Too bad there's not a USA UK channel equivalent for you guys.

I love British television. Somehow the comedians seem funnier, criminals more sinister, aliens more interesting, and detectives more sophisticated because of the accent. :D Wish I could just visit and sit around listening to people talk all day.

I'm with COCO all the way. Unfortunally though it may seem we won't be getting him back on The Tonight Show. Jay Leno beat Dave in the ratings on his first night back.

I don't really care for Talk Shows period... I like the Stand Up Monologue at the beginning, which is only about 7 or 8 minutes, but then it's time to change the channel...

Sorry but I have to disagree with those of you that liked Conan, I couldn't stand him, same goes for Colbert... I like Leno, but like I said my liking for Talk Shows are limited to their 7 to 10 minutes of Stand Up Comedy at the beginning of the show...
And "Headlines", a small segment that Leno does once a week, which use to be Mondays, but looks like it is going to be converted to Tuesdays now...

I do like John Stewart's presentation of the news, sometimes...
