Game Amnesia

I've just finished playing Sanitarium again. I know I played it through to completion when it was released 10 or 15 years ago. What's strange is hardly any of it looked familiar. It was like playing a new game! I remembered around 3 or 4 scenes, but the rest had no familiarity at all!

Maybe I belong in the sanitarium myself.

Now I'm playing "Longest Journey." We'll see if the amnesia continues.

I hope so.

I don't think it's amnesia. Its all about the strength of the character and story.

Most games we play we only play once or twice. I really have to love a game to play it more than twice and that burns the memory deeper into my brain.

Same with old TV shows. Why do you think people still watch re-runs of Star Trek or buy DVDs to shows like I Dream of Jeanie? You love the show and it makes you not want to forget them.

Oh I did enjoy the Longest Journey. They weren't kidding, that game took me a long time to play at one hour a night. Not enough hours in the day. :(

Wow that takes me back. I thought Sanitarium was a pretty brilliant game, but it's probably been over a decade since I've played it. I vaguely remember a fair amount of it, but I probably don't remember all of the puzzles. If I can get it to work on XP, I should pull it out and give it a go.

Oh yes, I remember the bit from The Mansion in Sanitarium... Eerie, haunting, beautiful stuff. And that music... Oh yeah. I'm definitely reinstalling this.

GOG had a special a few days ago: Sanitarium and Longest Journet for 5 bucks each! I bought them. Had a little bit of trouble running Sanitarium until I updated my video drivers and set the game's video setting to the highest. No trouble with Longest Journey yet.
