GOG IS BACK - THE NEW GOG

well since they are back, I thought it was only fitting to start a new thread.

OH MY GOG, they have tex murphy games, does anyone know if they are any good.......LOL

the new gog, well i have my glasses on & can't see much changes, the web page is very slow as they must be still working on it, well after all the count down just ended.

they seem to have something called a gog mix, maybe you can select a mixture of games in that catagory for a special price.

I tried to get on, but the site was down. I'll try again later. I'll be interested to see what the changes are and what, if any, games they've added.
I typed in www.gog.com and I got a page that says "gog.com will be back soon"... And then they have the nerve to put a Smiley face behind it...

it's only half running I think, everytime you click on something it goes down.

There was a "white screen of death" when I tried about an hour ago....

it's fine now.
gee clicking on the game images is super fast, well compared to being so slow before.

I liked one guy's response to this question.

I kinda feel as though a long term girlfriend has cheated on me and then came back with some 'Let's make up gifts'.

I'm not plotting their deaths (maybe just thinking about slashing their tires) but am annoyed that they'd pull such a trick on us. They could have just sent an email saying they are down for maintenance. All sites do it even banking sites.

There are funny jokes and then there are mean jokes.

I see no difference at all... So whatever their changes were, they must have been internal and not cosmetic...

When they said that they couldn't leave GOG the way it was, I expected a massive overhaul with a different layout along with maybe different types of search options along with a bunch of other bells and whistles...

It looks an feels the same... I never had a problem with GOG running slow before, it seems exactly the same to me... So I'm just gonna chalk up the last week to spring cleaning of the servers and regular maintenance...

I agree. Granted, I've browsed only for a couple of minutes, but nothing really looks changed. That's fine with me because I thought the site was good before. I am really excited that they have Baldur's Gate. I don't know how long I'll be able to resist the temptation to get sucked in again.
According to gog.com, about 98% of the code they used during beta was changed in order to create the new site. They also added the ability to tag games for your wishlist, as well as the ability to see what games are already in your cart while you're browsing the store for more, among other things to make site run faster.

As for the "white screen of death", I got that this morning for every page I visited at gog.com. All I had to do was hit refresh, and the page I wanted loaded without any further trouble. I think it was due to server overload.

well I haven't been excited about gog since they put the tex murphy games on board,
Most of the games I have purchased I had on a disk already.

I think the only game I would like to see is "the black dahlia" as I still have the mouse movement problem in the game(even though I run the patched no cd version) which hasn't fixed it completely.

A lot of the gog games are only shooting, killing games. I want adventure games

See folks! Isn't this exactly what I said would happen!

-Cub. =o)
Cub has the sight!! Praise Cub!!

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
All that hype and not much of an improvement. They only did it to hype up the new Buldurs Gate package..

They can however redeem this mess by having a huge discount sale on all items :D but we all know they won't.

I lost a lot of respect for them doing this, they cry wolf and then what happens when it actually does turn out to be a huge problem?! people will then start being skeptic saying "yeah but last time it wasn't true so it probably isn't this time"..

It was a stupid move because there is always a case it could happen for real. They shouldn't have done it because it played on people's fears. What an asshole thing to do.

Anyway I won't be buying any more of their games until the next sale. I hope they can go 3 months without having another end of the world farce again.
