I think I posted this in the last forum... but probably need an updated result.

How many of you folks have the ability to play 5.1 Surround Sound on you PCs?

5.1 is composed of the following speakers:

Front Left, Front Right, Rear Left, Rear Right, Centre and Subwoofer

More specifically if you could vote in the poll above and perhaps provide a breif description of your sound setup that would be much appreciated!

I am only asking this becuase I am working on something in relation to this, and that you guys just might like. But of course, it's a tight lid at the moment.

Thanks in advance.

But i dont have a 7.1 speaker system for that pc yet.

I have only stereo speakers, but my entire system is woefully obselete. I need to upgrade everything, so maybe when I do I'll get some surround sound too.
Mine's not a sound card per se, but it does the sound quite well.

P4 @3.2Ghz w 3GB
Tascam FW-1884 Firewire Audio interface. No speakers (yet), so my monitoring is done via Headphones. Works, but not too impressive-looking. I don't play games on this one, though, so Tex will have to make his quips in stereo from my SBLive! in my "game system" (P3 @800Mhz)

At least I can mix in 7.1...

You want me to do this project? Well, here's the way it works:
Cheap, good, fast. Pick any two.

My sound card does pretty good at making noise - especially when I turn up the volume. Too cool!!!

It's a something or other installed in the whatchmacallit under my computer desk.

Once in a while I accidentally kick it when sitting down and the volume gets even louder. Awesome piece of equipment! I love DELL!!!
"If you look to me for illumination, you better have a flashlight!"
That dog under your desk is a subwoofer, of course. . .pun intended.

I just got a new computer this year, and I was very careful to pick all the right components, including the sound card. . .dang if I can remember what I got, though. Not surprising: I'm almost as old as JTOG, if I remember correctly, which I might not, considering how old I am.

What was I saying?
So you're saying you put the what in the what with a what?! Who? I'm so confused.
I'm not fat ... I'm festively plump.
Well, I guess. . . . I put this in the thing there and then that went there and it worked. . .after I rebooted three times. . . and read the manual.
