Conventions - Reaching People About Project Fedora

A-kon, the long-running Texas anime convention. Dallas, TX, June 1-3. 3 days, up to 20,000 people. Myself...and a banner.

Is there any convention near you? Anime, comic books, games, sci-fi, anything where like-minded people may gather that you can go to to spread the word?

I hope the Big Finish team is going to E3. A PERFECT time for a last little push!
Mmmmm, indeed!

Well, getting a stall in E3 is expensive as all hell... but as Trilaan is suggesting, maybe rocking up with a bunch of t-shirts (at least) would be a good idea. A group of about 10 people wearing the same t-shirt will attracted attention, especially if they stuck together. Maybe they can even carry iPad's with them with the kickstarter website pre-loaded, the trailer video and some other resources and pretty much "recruit" if that's allowed. If not, just having the materials on hand would be a great idea.

If Aaron goes, he'll probably have his EA hat on. :| But he has to have some time off, I reckon. :)

What? In disguise? lol! I would LOVE to see that!

EA Guy: "AARON!! What are you doing!?"
Aaron: "Who's Aaron?!"
EA Guy: "Aaron, you're still wearing your EA sneakers!"
Aaron: "Good thing they make my run fast!" *dash*

Well, I'll be wearing my Under A Killing Moon shirt, at least.

If its an anime convention then there's always cosplaying Tex (with an added touch of a badge or card in the hat with the texmurphy.com Kickstarter page address). Either people will start asking who you are cosplaying and want to learn more or they'll mistake you for some other anime detective, take photos, and upload them to galleries with the Kickstarter address clearly shown...

Cool. The first post is nice and organised for people to click straight to specific materials (e.g. if they just want signatures, avatars etc.):

I just dropped a bunch of small flyers at the 2 GameStop stores in our mall. One of them was very receptive. The other said they do get a lot of moms in looking for mystery type of games. So, hopefully someone will grab a flyer and hit the Kickstarter page. The employees are going to check it out also.

I didn't try Gamestop because I thought they'd say no. Now I'm thinking otherwise. Thanks for the idea!

Yeah, that is a cool idea!

I found a custom t-shirt place in Annapolis, and just got my Tex shirt made for only $10 since I brought my own shirt for them to use. I'll be wearing this at my 5k tomorrow. I think the tee came out pretty good. It's just iron on, so it won't last forever - but still cool.
Also, I dropped some more flyers off at a comic book store I passed by.

Now lets hope someone ASKS me about it, or goes to the website.
