Cynical Confessions

Did you believe Tex could pull this off?

I always had faith. Tex can do anything.

I had some real doubts about a goal this high.

I still wonder if they'll make it even now.

When the subject was first broached about the possibility of Tex coming back by Kickstarter (shortly after Double Fine Adventure's campaign), I made this post:
Frogacuda wrote:Realistically, AC and CJ aren't going to raise enough to make a full Tex Murphy game, but they might be able to get the ball rolling with it.

What I think they need to do is come up with a plan for an episodic game, one comparable to the length of a chapter of UAKM or PD... If it works, they make the episode, and if the episode sells, maybe they make the next episode and so on.

That's the only way I see it happening, but it'd still be pretty exciting.
Admittedly I didn't know what kind of funds Big Finish had (apparently a few hundred thousand) or how cheap they could make a game for, but yeah, I didn't think Tex had enough friends left out there to pull off a "real", full-fledged 3D FMV adventure like the old games.

Now we're a week in and it's looking very likely. I've never been happier to be wrong.

Being positive and confident actually helps these things. As long as we don't get lazy.

Sure, we still have work to do getting the word out (and we want to smash that goal, not just make it), but we're over the hump for sure. No kickstarters of this size have ever failed at like 90% or more, and we're obviously going to be close.
I was doubtful this could be successful when it was first announced. I figured people would tire of Kickstarter quickly.

However, after the first day I was cautiously optimistic, and now I'm about 80% sure that we'll hit that $450,000.

The first seven days of this campaign have all exceeded the average daily requirement for that day (calculated as the amount left to get to $450,000 divided by the number of days remaining) and today is on track to break it again. We need only another $1,900 before midnight eastern to hit $8,900 for the day.

I'm hoping we can hit $350,000 by June 1 leaving only another $100,000 for the 15 days (and a few hours) in June. With the typical rush at the end, that should be very achievable.
We could pick up a lot at the end if SpaceVenture fails too, although honestly, I really hope that doesn't happen, because Space Quest means just as much to me as Tex. If we smash our goal early, I kind of hope people jump on board with that too as they're really struggling.
Option A for me. It's been a long wait for the fans and the pledges we're receiving so far is a testament to that. I'm pretty sure that this could finally be it.
I agree, option A. Oh, by the way, Joel's Avatar....STOP LOOKING AT ME THAT WAY!

Tea? I thought it was a coffee cup.
I am the very symbol of faith. Also of love. And panda bears. And that feeling you get when you wake up in the middle of the night and have forgotten a dream that was kinda nice and kinda scary at the same time. But mostly faith. And panda bears.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
I'm with option A. There's defnitely a will, so I know there will be a way.

Oh, and I agree that Pandas are nice.

Am I the only one to find it strange that over 260K people LIKE the Fedora Kickstarter, yet we only have just over 2,700 Backers... If each of those 261K people who Like the Kickstarter would just donate a buck we'd be over the Goal... Shame people have no problem liking something, but when it comes to taking action, we end up with just ONE Percent...

Though we do still have over 3 weeks to go, so maybe some of those people are just waiting for their next paycheck or something... Here's Hoping... *raises glass*

Those 261k likes aren't for Tex, they are for Kickstarter in general.
