Higher Tier Rewards

It seems like there is a dearth of higher tier pledges, which really are the second part of the backbone of a Kickstarter drive (along with the many who pledge at $15). I think this has to do with the incentives offered at these levels. The jump from $1,000 to $2,500 doesn't provide that much more for a rather huge jump in money. The $5,000 does offer a chance to tour the studio, but I really thought at least at $5,000 there would be a non-speaking role or something of the sort.

I don't know, maybe they'll add to the tiers or make more tiers in between the higher tiers. What do you guys think? Are the incentives fine as they are or could they use a bit of work to help push the higher donations?

Oh and this really isn't meant to be critical, but to hopefully gain some wealthy new backers.
agreed. there isn`t "digital-only" tier (with a photo-in-game and all below) either

oh... and yes, this post is meant to be critical

Wow, a limited edition Access Software Cone Brassiere! For short people! Outstanding, someone call Geek Madonna's Mini-Me clone!

Seriously, what's that stuff?

I've heard some talk about them adding a digital only tier this week hopefully.
1 Day ago:
For all of those waiting for a digital only tier, we might see one this week. I asked Chris and Aaron and they said that they might add a digital only tier this week.
I think they should also make a breakdown on the main Kickstarter page of the rewards including mockups (they can note on it that it's a mockup if need be). I've seen quite a few ask about the $500 "Ultimate Detective Collection" for example. Most other Kickstarters eventually added a breakdown or mockups at some point such as Jane jensen's and Banner Saga's looked quite nice:

Some are getting answers in Private Messages on Kickstarter about rewards that should probably be added on the main page along with visuals. I'm hoping for them to pass their goal rather than just make it (so they can do all the things they suggested past 450k like extra game content, even more story paths, "very recognisable" actors in the industry) and even with the little bit they released via Private Message that got posted to the Comments page seemed to get another $500 backer.
Posted on May 15: Some of the rewards need some mocks or visuals, such as the $500 "Detective" box of the original games. I'd up my pledge if can see that, for instance.
5 days ago: Maybe silly to ask but what The Ultimate Detective box set of "Under a Killing Moon", "Pandora Directive", and "Overseer" in special edition Collector’s Box contains? Are these the original big box editions of the games from the 90's with cds together or the updated/new versions of those boxes with the new dvds and extra goodies just for Project Fedora?
7 hours ago: I sent aaron and chris this message "Is there any more info on the $500 Ultimate Detective Box. Is it just the original discs in a new box or have there been changes made? UKAM and Pandora are fine in dosbox but Overseer is a mess on new computers. Is it updated in anyway either program or video quality?" Their response: "Thanks for your message. The games included in the Ultimate Detective box set have been updated to run on newer computers (Windows 7), and shouldn't need to be run in DOSBox."
7 hours ago: We have the 50th $500 backer! Thank you backer!!!
6 hours ago: That's very interesting about the ultimate detective box. Maybe they should advertise on the page what it really is. Updated versions are welcome!
Here's hoping for a new tier with only the "The Ultimate Detective box set" from the $500 level.

Lindhorst, some good points there and I'm sure every one of us would love to be in the game somehow. Speaking of...

Regarding '*Previous Reward Tiers included' bit. At $500 you can get your photo 'featured' in the game with one of those legendary Tex voice over comments. Was wondering though if higher tiers get all previous rewards does that mean there will potentially be 1635 of these photos or do only the $500 backers get that?

Would also love to know what the 'walk-on role' actually involved and as it says there is an 'opportunity' does that mean there is only one role that all the $10,000 backers draw straws for?

I see what you mean, Lindhorst. Considering how much money I have saved in the bank, it would be irresponsible and stupid for me to step up to $2500. I'm not kidding. But... if given an incentive strong enough... maybe I could do it.

Well, maybe "opportunity" means that you don't have to do it. I'd be too shy. People will think I'm Delores Lightbody.
The only reward I care about is them getting the game out.

That's true freepizza. I feel that way too. but other fans who aren't as insane as you and I will be harder to motivate.

I've already pledged and spent a lot of my savings, 10-8% of what I have in the bank. I'm not rich, so it's a lot of money for me. I'm not saying that I won't give unless I'm paid back or something cynical like that. If I moved up to $2500 I'd need to justify it somehow.
freepizza wrote:The only reward I care about is them getting the game out.
But I wonder if the fans who feel this way have already donated, To make up the rest will be the fans who if they just want the game will settle with $15. But to really get the game made, there will need to be more donations at the higher tiers. So more info and mockups etc. of the higher tiers could be encouraging.

Some are also wondering about the $30 documentary tier and how detailed it will be compared to the Double Fine one that many people got excited for. At the moment all they know is that it is a "documentary" but people seemed to buy into Double Fine's selling of their idea of a documentary.
May 15th: Maybe you could add more info on the documentary (episodes? one documentary? length...?). Might be important for some people to know about that.
May 15th: I'd like to know more about the Project Fedora documentary. Hope they release an update soon with more information.
I hope they include the Project Fedora documentary in the disc of the Boxed Collectors Edition.
7 hours ago: Nothing has really been mentioned about the documentary - I know a lot of people jumped on Double Fine Adventure for a look at game development at a professional studio rather than just the game itself
I’ll probably back this, but they definitely need to put more info out there about the project in general and the specific nature of some of the rewards. I.e., one of the tiers mentions a reward of “download the documentary”. Wait, what documentary? They don’t say anything about it on the page or in the video.

That is the biggest reward I care about...it's why I had already planned to donate at least $1000 before I even knew what the incentives were to be, but I'm with joliet-jane, in that to spend a good deal more than that, and make sacrifices in my real life, there really has to be a worthy incentive, and right now, the $2500 isn't doing it for me. And I'm still waiting to hear back on this credit card thing too....which may just get me into more trouble, but again, it's about the incentive at some point.

Yes the game and supporting Tex, CJ and AC is the main concern here. The debate here is not about the incentives as such but like Joliet-Jane and Lindhorst have said its about the justification and (as much as it pains me to use the phrase) 'real world' issues. What it comes down to I think is that everyone here I'm sure has or is giving everything they have, the conflict is, as evidenced by talk of credit cards and incremental payments giving what we don't have. When Kickstater became a reality the die hard to the core Tex fan in me is seriously agonising and figuring out how to make a $10,000 pledge vs the real world responsibilities and sacrifices. Hence threads like this sharing thoughts looking for that 'justification' Ah....who needs a new speeder anyway? :?

I find this response quite weird,

overseer never did run on dos box & the other games are dos games & never really worked on top of windows until dos box came along.

if it was possible to update the games why wasn't it done years ago.
