New years resolutions and 2005 in review...

Well, as we fast approach 2006 everybody has no doubt felt the small inclination to reflect upon the past year of events. Whether it be in the world, in your circle of family and friends, or right here on the UTM Message Board.

The purpose of this thread is to give everybody the opportunity to share their possible New Year's resolution (as the title suggests), but to reflect on the events of the past year.

So I will get the ball rolling:

My new years resolution is to start going to bed at a decent hour, instead of my 5, 6 or even 7am mornings... to perhaps improve my diet and resume regular exercise. To become a doer and not a procrastinator and to get organised! ; these holidays have made me rather lazy. Lastly, I have been a bit of an a**hole to one of my friends, but we have both held a huge grudge for a couple of years now (long story). I am afraid that recently I pushed this over the line to the point where even my friends could potentially find it hard to think of me with the same respect as they once did. And now feel a rather terrible... so I guess a long reconciliation chat with her is in order. My god.

Looking back on the past year's events how could I forget the new Unofficial Tex Murphy Website! And the new message board! And correct me if I am wrong but this year (from memory) has seen the biggest boom in new members for many years! Woot!

On a sadder note, we said goodbye to our good friend Ripley. She was a wonderful person who will never be forgotten, and we will be thinking of her for many years to come.

I remember blowing my top a few months back on the board when I made the mistake of bringing politics into the picture, and played a rather awful prank in the process! ...sorry Jim. Although, as you said Jim, it's Cubbery. Although, on the positive side we did get to hear again from Mr. Conners... although I am sure we all would have preferred it to be under more comfortable circumstances.

We had Alex Bark JOIN US! ...and soon realised that if there was one person who would probably take his life for the welfare of Tex Murphy it would be him!

I posted the board's first drunk post... actually I posted on a few other forums in the process.... ... you think I'm joking don't you!

We every recently saw Dalton make his return... always a pleasure.

Vracar's story has provided us with much entertainment over the past month or so... hats off to you!

We saw many more additions to the Soundtrack Downloads for Overseer... many thanks to Matt Heider!

We saw this years only Tex Murphy group chat go off with a bang, sputter, and crash.

As for family, and friends, apart from the above mentioned dispute which I may have to endure for a little longer, everything is pretty much the same, which I thank the stars for.

And as for the world... well, lets just say I have learnt to take it on the chin.

Cheers fellow mates, and have a wonderful 2006!

Nice post, Cub. I'd make a new years resolution but for some strange reason I can't remember when new years is coming.

As for the past year I completely agree with Cub's reflections. The loss of Ripley is a deep wound that will take a long time to heal. Helps we surviviors to meditate on life's uncertainties and be prepared for the best AND the worst that time and circumstances may place before our paths.

2005 has been a good year as far as Tex is concerned with the new board etc, but Ripley signing off was a sad note.

On a personal level, it's been an awful year, with a lot of deaths and departures to cope with. 2006 can only get better.

I also think 2006 will be even better for Tex though - with the Blood script of Aaron's that Chris and Richard worked on sounding like it is making noise, can only spell good things for them next year, and good things for them means good things for Tex.

So I raise my glass to one and all, to wish you all a wonderful 2006.

Happy New Year.

Hey DL! I heard England is digging out from a snow storm. Having fun yet?

To Demonlawyer - you've got the AC's confused Aaron Conners didn't work on Blood Adrian Carr was the writer and director. CJ and RN were involved as Exec Producer and fight choreographer respectively..

Hey guys, happy new year for all of you,

I make a resolution to watch as much football as I'd like, have as much fun as possible, and eat, drink, and be merry. Other that that, I resolve to finding someone, passively, who will completely fund a new Tex game.

I resolute to start eating right, even if I have to eat celery .. *homer simpson shudder*

I resolute to stay with one truck company for more than a month.

I resolute to hit the damn lottery already.

I'm not fat ... I'm festively plump.
Sheesh, Malloy! You've got more things to work on than the whole board combined! Hope you're successful.

Yes, yes. Especially the woman, and not making an ass out of myself parts. Which are kinda interconnected ... but we won't go there. Thanks. I sure hope so too.

I'll try to stick my head out more on these boards this year (2006). I know I've been a scarce commodity this year (2005), but I assure you, I've neither forgotten you nor missed you.

Oh wait, it's vice versa :D Just kidding.

Here's to a shinier, happier 2006, eh? Skoal!

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
Ok, I was a little timid about posting the ol New Years resolutions, but what the heck, put it out there right?

2005 was an awful year for me. The person closest to me spent half of it in Iraq. Talk about your stress eating..... yikes. My birthday was amazing, but the rest of it, I've give the whole thing about 2 stars.

So, I saw 2006 in right, and hope to achieve 2 things. 1st, get back into my size 6 clothes. 2nd, pay off my car. Luckily, I've been trying to hoard my cash, so I'll be able to pay off a huge chunk in the next week.
I'm not even going to get on the scale, cause I'm sure I'll be way too impatient, and distracted if I watch it.

To everyone who's thrown their gauntlet into the ring... Good luck to you!
May 2006 be a happy one!!!! :D
