Ive been looking all over for the solution to this problem, and posted on a few computer problem forums but nothing has come up yet and it has me... discouraged. I thought I might see if any Texans could help out. I know a few of you know your way around the computer.
Here is my problem. After playing a game for a while my computer starts beeping at me. I think its a BIOS beep or something like that. It only happens when playing games, and it goes away (at least for a few minutes) if I alt+tab out of the program. I know that my computer is trying to tell me something, I just dont know what the heck it is. So does anyone know what may be causing this? I would right appreciate some help.

Does your game's graphics by any chance get a little bit... fuzzy? Like it's on a TV with bad reception?
In which case it's your gfx-card overheating.

I'm no computer savvy person, but I'd say you're overtaxing your computer's memory. There have been times when my computer had beeped while playing graphic-intense games for extended periods of time. But those games were also pushing the limits of my computer's free mem, too, which after prolonged use caused my computer to beep and, if ignored, to reboot itself to free up memory.
Anyway, that's how I understand it. a computer savvy person may say that, if this is the case, you might need more RAM. But I personally don't know.

Is it the sound card...? Unsupported sounds getting replaced by beeps?
Or you could download a system temperature thingy and see if the computer is overheating and if your BIOS or operating system has a beep mechanism warning for that. My computer was getting extremely hot during the summer and when I tried to play an online game it would slow down and lock up alot (I later found out thats my system's way of dealing with overheating by shutting down all processes).
Games always take up all of your computers processing so maybe it was because you had some other things running at the same time that it couldnt handle? But it could be memory too or other stuff, games are pretty demanding... maybe check to see if you have all the system requirements for the games you're playing.
If you can find out your BIOS make (when the computer is starting up it should say it) and google about that particular BIOS and beeping, maybe you'll find something.

Thanks for the help guys. I dont think its a question of my system requirments. I've been playing some of these games on this computer for a while and it hasnt happened before. And I have a gig of memory so I dont think I would be eating up too much of that.
I could possibly see it as an overheating thing. Though I dont know why it would be doing that now. Maybe because we have the heat on in the house and I have my computer right in front of a vent.

If it's a beep that sounds like a siren it's definitely your CPU that's overheating (the siren is a common sound to indicate overheating and/or general hardware failure). Sounds like the most reasonable explanation by far from what you've told us. In general this is the only PC speaker alarm you'll get from a computer and still have it run ok.
