Boy have I got a treat for you folks!...

In light of the recent discussions surrounding the old videos that Chris Jones, Doug Vandergrift and the rest of the gang did a long while back (which were recently presumed to have disappeared off the face of the earth)... I had decided to take my virtual shovel and have a dig through my old collection of TM stuff (which spanned over multiple PCs, and about 10 years worth of data) and managed to find them!

These videos were originally on the old CARP International website as RM (Real Media) files, and virtually un-downloadable... but I was just as tricky back then as I was now and managed to still download them. ...And they've been sitting here under my nose for around 8 years... as the years passed they drifted off the website and out of mind... until they came back into the focus a couple of days ago thanks to Sarah.

The size and quality leave a bit to be desired... but you have to remember these were released back in the day where the only people with a broadband connection were the rich folks down the road who paid $350 a month for it. The rest of us were in dial-up county.

What are you viewing these files with? I tried RealPlayer v10.5, MediaPlayer v9.0, and QuickTime v7.

None of them produce video for Plan 10 (which has no audio). They only produce audio for the Singing Detective. But the interview works ok (both video and audio.)

Dude, this one gave me flashbacks to Max Headroom, cause of the stuttering. (or Shodan from System Shock 2, cause of the face morphing lol)
freaky stuff...

The Pandora stuff was awesome, its also funny to see CJ so young in the Singing Detective, they've come a long way since then. (only to have M$ shove them into a ditch... f*cktards)

The files are in DivX format... you might not have the latest codec... go to Divx.com and download the free version. Make sure that when you are installing it you tick only the codec in your "components to install" category, otherwise you get all whole bunch of other crap too.

Let me know how that goes.

In adding to the prezzies, I have also dug up and uploaded the Overseer trailer. This particular version is the highest quality version available (640 X 480) and it in self-enclosed Smacker .EXE format... which means you don't need the original codec to play it. For those of you who don't know, 'Smacker' is a type of compression codec which was used for the video in the CD version of overseer. 'Bink' was the codec used in the DVD version. Both are part of 'RAD Video Tools', and you will find Bink featured in over 70% of games today (both console and PC).

Unfortunately not correct. If the DVD version had used Bink, we would not have the codec problems today.
I think, Bink even didn't exist at that time.


The DVD version uses *surprise* DVD MPEG2 Video (These are normal VOB files which could be played with every DVD software player.)

Except they renamed the filetypes .000 instead of .MPEG - hence why we can't view them on a DVD player. But Media Player 10 views them fine Outside of the game - so long as you copy the FMVs from the disc and rename them .MPEG

I think they did that though so that it wasn't too easy to spoil the ending. Oldest trick in the book lol..

go to Divx.com and download the free version.

Downloaded the DivX and it displays the video ok now.
