For those of you who need a refresher, a user named Dr. X left a message on the forums asserting that there was a conspiracy by a covert group affiliated with Microsoft who were trying to prevent a Tex game from ever happening.

Not long after, a user named Kator claimed to be an alien who was allegedly hired by this organisation but refused to do their dirty work as it went against his sense of morals.

It was a really nutty time. This was back in the day where you didn't even need to register to be a user here. I think I was aboout 16 when all this happened.
Oh man, yes! I remember that! Wow, 16 years old... such youngsters... actually come to think of it I was 12 when I first started posting here! My god

It was a special time wasn't it? I think I love this period of the board so much because that's when the optimism of Tex ever having a future was at its peak. There were regular live chats, Tex Murphy Radio Theatre, the attempted Flash installments of Tex and several fan projects were taking flight too. Gaming in general was pretty decent too.....oh yes, the year 2000 was certainly the tail end of the golden age!
Not that site, Cub. There was another one, before that, we used to go there regularly. The other Matt's site. Remember?

My best memory is when Malloy made that huge topic about how we were all too nice. That was a classic.

I remember my joy at finding this place, well, not this place exactly, but finding you guys, and realizing that there was actually a place on the web to go look for all things Tex Murphy. I also recall with joy, glee and other such utterances the first time I found out what sort of characters were here. Chief among them are James, Jen, Jim and Mat. There are many of us here, but those four people are the real glue. And the fact that this forum is unlike any other anywhere. There is kindness here, and love.

It's been not unlike an adventure on it's own, coming here every day since I found the ol' place. There are many memories linked to this community, and by God some of them I will take with me to my grave.

I could say, selfishly, that the best memory I have is from when I won a signed copy of Pandora. That was awesome beyond mere explanation by words. Hugs would have to be issued. Great big man-hugs all around.

But really, though? If I was to be completely honest with myself? The best memory I have is the one where I realized that I am a part of this place. And I'm here to stay. And I am welcomed, and accepted, and loved.

Let's face it. There ain't no other place on the net like ours.

Try finding a community equal to this one anywhere on the web. I dare you. I double-dog-dare you!

(Also, where else can a randomly surrealistic spouter of gibberish like me be seen as a voice of reason? Go figure.)
