Hi Lynne, I would assume what they mean is the discs in the new box set will not just be the original games in new packaging meaning having to use actual DosBox. More than likely will just be similar to the GOG versions of the games but with more Big Finish or Project Fedora front ends. I think the topic of why not upgrade the original games has come up many times before and at the time it was just not possible or cost effective otherwise they would have just made a new game by now for the money it would have taken. Also it would only really be for quite a small number of us here and most of us were hanging onto or building 95/Dos machines and playing around with patches and settings to make them run on XP until DosBox and finally GOG.

my point was the person who answered this PM stated the games will not need dos box, the games cannot run on win 7 without dos box as windows does not have full dos. So in actual fact to run on win 7 someone would have to make major changes to the disks.

I would say that the disks have the new installer with dos box, and quite possibly with big finish games on the label.

Likely, tho I'd love to get rid of the audio pops found in the current versions and the dialog seems slightly mismatched.

I think that is what I said, or at least meant to say. Yes there is DosBox built into the GOG versions and that is probably what will always be used now but like you said its all built into the installer. Who ever answered the PM probably meant that the user will not have to load and configure the actual DosBox program themselves? :?

trilaan,

are you getting a squeaky popping sound if so that can be fixed just with a slight adjustment in the dos box config file. let me know if it is & I will help you get rid of it.
