Vacation...
Don't worry, the stools are above water... you jut dangle you feet in. but I believe you... its not a old wives tale... it really does cause a tummy upset.Sai wrote:Learn something new everyday. Uhh - this summer I'm "only" allowed 2 weeks of vacation seeing as how I switched to a new job in March - AND the fact that I have planned a rather large 4-weeks winter (summer) vacation in Australia in February.
So my fiancee (yep, I'm engaged now, thank you very much) and I have planned a 1-week trip to Prague, Czech Republic in the middle of August which means I will be celebrating my birthday in Prague. That's gonna be different from what I'm used to, but I'm still looking very much forward to it.
The flight and the hotel is already paid for, so we just need to think about "pocket money"

Aw, you're lucky! European vacations are so lovely, and so much easier (and cheaper) when they also originate in Europe...oh, and congrats on the new fiancee!

Actually, these stools are well-below the water. When sitting on them, the water level is nearly chest high.Don't worry, the stools are above water... you jut dangle you feet in. but I believe you... its not a old wives tale... it really does cause a tummy upset.
I guess, if you don't get out of the water, you never really have to 'get in.' So there's no waiting.
I would never go into water with stools in it

Anyway it sounds like a really interesting place, I probably would get stomach upset though like Cub says regardless of the old wives tale being proved wrong. Tex Murphy's law and all that. But yeah it sounds awesome and unique.

That's funny! I laughed out loud at that one.I would never go into water with stools in it

With regard to advice about not going in the water right after eating, it isn't about the water. The potential problem arises from performing any type of vigorous exercise right after eating. That can cause cramps and cramps could be particularly dangerous if you're in water over your head and suddenly can't swim.
But just being in the water, sitting on a bar stool (or calmly floating on one's back) isn't going to be a problem.
I think I'm with Cub. I'm off to Pamplona tomorrow to take part in the Running of the Bulls.
It's been an intense year so far, trying to squeeze as many things in as I could. Today I was at Wimbledon, last month I was at the Chelsea Flower Show, next month I'm off to Cowes for the regatta - assuming I don't get mauled by a bull in the meantime.
I guess that all falls under 7, though not sure all of them count as a holiday.

Well I must say, I do hate Highway Construction... Ties the roads up for hours...
Other than that, we had some fun... Everyone got to do what they wanted for the most part... Each time we finished one thing another person would decide what we were gonna do next... So Diplomacy worked well for the trip...
Hawaii is more of a Winter Destination for us... Hawaii and Cozumel are big winter time trips for us...

Got back late last night. Man it's good to be home (and back on board).
I thought I'd post a few pics, just for some chuckles.
This sucker was a HUGE Tiger Shark. I had been down before and had never seen this badass sister. She bumped the cage a few times too. Yikes!!!

We spent a good amount of time on the North Shore, where turtles often sun themselves. This one was just hanging out. We saw a ton of them close up, both under water and on the beach.
Awwwww.... I was dying of cute, hope you like em. This is where we did the playing with dolphins and sea lion stuff.

A little lunch with a meet and greet. It's surprising what they're willing to do and share if you're in a small group and ask intelligent questions.

Oh yes, a Wolfin. A false killer whale and dolphin that much to the surprise of the park, decided to breed. Here's what they got.

We did the whole shebang: parasailing, bumper tubing (where they drag you behind a speed boat on a small, modified innertube/raft), snorkeling in Hunama Bay, surfing, shark diving. It was my son's graduation present, and his first time visiting Hawaii, so we went full out. It's a little warmer than when I usually go, May or November, but with the tradewinds and the beach right there, no worries.
Demonlawyer, any pics of your adventures? No bloody bull horns though plz!!

I must work out how to post pics - I have nowhere online other than facebook to post them. There was at least one death - a 23 year old irish guy died when he fell down a 30 ft drop, but no one injured during the run itself, but I saw a lot of injuries, mostly at other things during the festival, but that was some rush doing it.
Most the people there was Australians, a few Americans; I only met one other Brit. I would love to do it again sometime, though the girlfriend isn't too keen on me doing it more than once.
I'll ask if Joilet Jane can post for me, as there seems little point in a whole flickr account for a few pics...
BTW Jen, those are some pretty cool pics too. I like the penguin.

Glad to hear you made it.
Also, you're a moron for attempting to outrun not one bull, but bulls plural. Willingly.
But that's just my opinion of the event and those who choose to partake. Still glad to hear you made it
