Started my Documentary

Alright so I started my documentary this week. It's sort of an extension of my Mr. Noodle diet I did almost 2 years ago, except absolutely healthy. I've been fattening myself up as much as I could since last January; eating fatty foods, entire meals of junk food, lots of fried food. As much fun as it was I absolutely HATE the condition I am in right now. I ran for the bus the other day the approximate length of a strip mall parking lot and I was out of breath for about 5 min. I can't begin to tell you how glad I will be the more the fat burns off. I've never been in this condition and I was starting to get scared.

This week I consulted my doctor (she thinks it was a stupid idea) and we took some blood work. So next week provided there aren't any other medical issues I will be going on an extreme diet and working out like crazy. I've never really worked out much in my life (more of a computer nerd) so it should be an interesting experience. The duration of the shoot is 3 months. Here's how my diet is planned out so far:

Breakfast
1 Whole Wheat English Muffin with 1 tbsp Peanut Butter
2 whole eggs with 4 egg whites

Mid Morning Snack (10:30am)
2 scoops Whey Protein

Lunch
1 Can Tuna,
1/2 cup Cottage Cheese
2 cups salad and 15ml of Olive Oil or Vinegar Dressing

Afternoon Snack
1/4 cup Cottage Cheese
1/4 of an Avocado

Supper
1 small Chicken Breast
1 small Tuna Steak or 1/2 of a T bone Steak
1 cup zucchini or cucumber

PREworkout,
2 cups whey protein,

POSTworkout,
1 Jelly Sandwich
2 scoop protein shake

Bed
1 Casein Shake, 2 scoops

Already before even starting on the diet I can tell you I do not like half the stuff already, but in the interest of science I am willing to choke the stuff down. Starvation is a good motivator for the distaste of foods. This weekend we are figuring out the workout routine and I can post that up later for anyone interested. For the next 3 months this will be consuming a good chunk of my time, I can only hope it's worth it. At the very least I should be quite in shape for summer so that's always good. I am a little scared as I might injure myself in the beginning or something but other than that I am pretty confident that it will be compelling. I am somewhat of a guinea pig in all this so it should be interesting to say the least. So if I am missing from the board for extended periods you will at least know where I am and what I am doing. Wish me luck!

I'm curious about the 4 egg whites, the amount of proteins and having the same lunch every day.

Do let us know how it all goes! It's an interesting, although a bit masochist, project to handle. Let's see how it works for the body, and most importantly, if it destroys the mind! :P

Alright so I had to put the doc on pause for a bit, my work is getting in the way. I am supposed to produce a series of videos by the end of this March so I've put the doc on hold. Every time I tried to start the diet something kept me from filming so I just paused for the time being but I will keep all interested up to date when I pick things up again. FYI if it were just the diet alone it would be easy but keep in mind I have to set up and film everything I do anytime I wanna do something so it becomes cumbersome when you have other productions on the go. I already have a lot of things filmed so I will for sure be getting back to this as I am commited to it now it just won't be when I wanted to. Oh well, hopefully I'll be getting back to it at the end of this month. On the bright side business is picking up so it's all good.

Anything worth doing is worth doing well, don't give it up Stu... I remember the Mr. Noodles videos... Granted when I first saw them I didn't have a clue what I was looking at, but once I realize what it was for and all, they were good pieces of work...

I can also see your point of view how you have to tape everything and whatnot, I'm sure it can become annoying and aggravating...

So how is that other project going for you, the one you might sell to a network or something???

Electron, this is a most ambitious project indeed, I wish you the best and make sure you keep us posted. Two weeks ago I actually joined Weight Watchers and got a personal trainer. At 93KG and some very awkwardly fitting jeans and suits, I felt it was time to make some changes. So far i've lost 3KG's and i'm feeling great. The excercise, the food changes - all good. By the end of the Semester (12 weeks away) i'm aiming to have lost 10kg.

By the way, i've been meaning to ask, Stu, is your name a reference to the R.E.M. song Electron Blue?

WOOOOW, you've gone from fast food junkie to looking like the lead singer of The Hives! Good job, dude. Don't ever go back but don't lose any more weight either.

I went from 272 to 168 pounds from October 2006 to October 2007. Since then, I've been maintaining things. My weight goes up and down 5 pounds every so often, as I switch between running or lifting focus, but I've been able to keep my body fat percentage the same, regardless.

So, I guess a year give or take a month to lose it all, and then about 15 months of maintaining since.

The lunch you posted is really lacking in carbs.

A great source of good carbs are things like sweet potatoes or yams, as well as brown rice.

Just watch the portion size.

You don't want alot if you are trying to lose weight.
Just a handful size is good.

Eat lots of green vegetables... anything green you can find.
That will take the weight off like crazy.

Tuna is really good to for protein.

Also, if you are using peanut butter, it's best to go with the natural stuff.

Almost forgot to mention... Salmon is really good for you too once or twice a week for healthy omega fats.

Good luck
